Niantic has officially acknowledged the existence of the “last Premier Ball Bug”, which resulted in consistent capture failures while using the last remaining Premier Ball.

As we’ve reported earlier, the reports were indicating that it’s almost impossible to catch a Raid Boss with the last Premier Ball — at least for the Trainers affected. The official “Known Issues” support page says the following:

Last Premier Ball fails to capture the Raid Boss
We are actively working to resolve an issue where the Raid Boss always breaks free from the last Premier Ball available. To counteract the effects of this issue, Pokémon GO will temporarily grant an extra Premier Ball in the Bonus Challenge.

As written, Raids now reward one extra Premier Ball to compensate for this issue.

Twitter confirmation

One more thing

We’ve received a lot of complaints on Twitter from readers claiming that the bug doesn’t exist. That is simply not true — the bug exists, it is now confirmed by Niantic and it’s reproducible. Unfortunately, it’s not affecting everyone, which lead to conflicting reports.

We urge our readers to stay constructive and civilised in their comments and tweet replies — if the issue is not affecting you, or you haven’t noticed it, that does not mean it does not exist.

The GO Hub’s public channels are a place for civilised discussion and information sharing — keep it clean, accurate and friendly. Otherwise Antonio will make you do push-ups.

This bug most probably spans more than just raids and has probably been around for months. It is relevant now because it could be shrugged off on other more common instances, Legendaries are not something we’ll have many chances to do, ergo important now.

The problem in programming is that it is often more influenced on both hardware and software (platforms) that support it. While some may have the problem others may never have it and others will have it inconsistently.

Our experiences can be as doubtful to others as other’s experiences are to us. No one can possibly know everything and the big picture is probably more complex than we can know at any time. Those in charge will judge the weight of words and separate facts and speculation.

I concur that constructive and civilised comments that bring forth relevant information should be shared in public channels. And yet some constructive, civilised and informative comments do vanish here and there.

I’ve noticed that I’ve got 6 premier balls from defeat boss instead of 5 … So this IS the reason…. – _-

Instead of fixing the bug, they give you an extra ball. That gives you an idea on how Niantic deals with bugs…

(Well, it may be a temporary solution, but still isn’t the only bug in the game)

    • Daniel Doiron

they can’t even fix their own game lol, or when they do a fix a bug , they break twice as more, heck using too many potions still freezes/ crashes , one of the worst mobile dev in terms of fixing and updating , yet the richest now

There is a problem with another known error: I cannot see sponsored PokéStops or Gym
This is not working even after the player is 13, if the player was effected before. My son is now 13 for about a month but still cannot see the ponsored PokéStops or Gyms. It looks like the age is checked when you create the account but not again later, so the account is flagged forever as “child”.

    • peponzio

I wouldn’t mind being a child my entire life.

But honestly, it should definitely make the check or save the date of manhood to ensure the change of flag.

Well most of my birds break free no matter if its the 1st, 5th, or last.

i had the strangest dream last night; i was playing pokemon go and stubled across a 2700cp dragonite!! i went to my berries to find this circle thing which gave me the option to use it to make the pokemon a shiny!! This is only a dream but how cool would it be if this happend

    • peponzio

Shininess is a condition set by the Pokemon’s creation. A Pokemon cannot become shiny (except for the Red Gyarados, but Team Rocket is crazy), it must be shiny from birth.

Now if it could be done, then shininess would lose motivation. It displays uniqueness, changing something at will is not unique.

      • Austin Tang

        Lol it was a dream.

  • Dave Wong

had another Zapdos raid today….it seems harder to defeat it today…..way harder…something change?

  • Clyff

So now, let’s fix the “getting booted from raids and losing your raid pass and victory even when your group wins” big. Shall we move to that next?

    • Dan Martin

Amen brother. That one really burns me up with no recourse available.
The other one is while in the process of taking down a gym, you get booted if a Raid Boss decides to show up.

  • Paul Diskin

It’s hard enough to beat these raids
Not catching due to a game clitch is disappointing

  • Ashley Lester

Do u mean to tell me that each raid battle I am in your are suppose to be able to catch it because I just thought it was like the regular pokemon you catch in the wild sometimes they stay in others they dont. Because I could of had all these legendary pokemon

  • hilmanefef

at least, every raid pokemon which we went to catch, they never flew away. They just jumping and dance around. lol
