English

After seeing that Niantic has started to make an effort in LATAM, not only by responding and replying to the #HolaNiantic Movement, but also opening Job positions in México D.F., it only makes sense that Trainers in all of Latin America should be excited to see what the future holds.

I hate to talk about myself (really, skip this if you would like), but I thought I would mention that I have decided to bring this concept forward since I live in México and am fully aware of the community’s desire for a locally based event. Truthfully I would have considered applying for a position at Niantic until I saw that they changed the job position to the city of México D.F., so it’s a no go for me. Why do I say this? Well, consider this a “Love Letter” to the individual who gets the position; all of México has been waiting for this, so make us proud!

Here we will take a look at a full fledged event concept, including technicalities such as location and time, in-game features, special content, and everything to make up the perfect Fiesta Mexicana!

Location

Being the first LATAM event, this would probably have one of the largest turnouts in Pokémon Go’s Event History. Where do we find a place to hold so many people?

Monterrey, Nuevo León

Now, your first thought as to where a México based event should be would most likely be México D.F. (Mexico City), however Monterrey can be considered to be one the most touristic spots in all of México, as a center-point for travelers flying or driving in and out of México.

Parque Fundidora

So now that we have the City, what about the place? Well, in Monterrey, the largest publicly accessible park is Fundidora Park, offering around 356 acres of space, a 3.4 Km walking trail, and currently holding a rough estimate of around 100 Combined Gyms and Pokéstops. So how does this stack up to other events? Let’s say, compared to Go-Fest? Although it only holds around 1/3 of Go-Fest’s space, it does have a longer Trail — but let’s not forget, this isn’t Go-Fest, this is a Safari Event!

Parque Fundidora Features

Now, let’s take a look at what the park has to offer.

  • 17 Restrooms
  • 11 Collections/Museums
  • 7 Industrial Chimneys
  • 13 Restaurants/Snack Shops
  • 12 Sports Centers/Exercise Areas
  • 16 Unique Statues
  • An Auditorium and Arena
  • 8 Parking Lot Sections
  • 22 Water Fountains/Displays

And trust me when I say, much much more.

Final Notes

The park itself has enough activities within it to provide a steady amount of entertainment to Trainers, offering amazing displays and sights to see, along with this, the park already has two hotels directly tied, making a perfect spot for accommodations.

Some Trainers may argue that the event would have to be held in México D.F., but well it isn’t necessary to experience the Mexican Culture, as we have seen in every Safari Zone event up until now, the event does not have to be held in the Country’s Capital.

Pokémon

Between Safari Zones, we have seen rare Pokémon, Regional Pokémon, Unown, special eggs, and a few more things that we will dive into pronto.

Featured Pokémon

In the past Safari Zone Events, we have seen increased spawn rates for an average of around 9-10 Pokémon. So what Pokémon could we expect? Well for one, considering that a large portion of México is covered in Deserts (almost 70%), it seems appropriate to include some ground and fire types. But let’s take a look at each contender individually.

Featured Pokémon
Image result for pokemon go cacnea Image result for pokemon go lotad
Image result for pokemon go pikachu Image result for pokemon go numel
Image result for pokemon go trapinch Image result for pokemon go rhyhorn
Image result for pokemon go torchic
  • Cacnea – Let’s just be honest, you cannot have a México event and not involve everyone’s favorite little cactus!
  • Lotad – Another obvious contender, its evolution, Ludicolo’s sombrero and great vibes represent the heart of México wonderfully!
  • Pikachu – Most Trainers might not be fans of Hat Pikachus, but on this occasion, giving Pikachu a sombrero is just about the greatest hat you could give it.
  • Numel – Having a dual Fire/Ground typing makes it the perfect match for this event!
  • Trapinch – Most Safari Zone events showcase a Pokémon commonly found in 10km eggs, and Trapinch fits the bill perfectly!
  • Rhyhorn – In order to balance out some of the weaker spawns, there has to be Pokémon capable of coming out above the rest, and thus arrives Rhyhorn!
  • Torchic – Just as other Safari Events, adding a starter to the roster is nice, and Torchic best encapsulates the fiery spirit of México!
Regional and Unown Pokémon

When it comes to regionals, many Trainers might consider Kangaskhan to fit the bill, and although it might be seen that way, I believe that a better option for this event would be the only Fire type regional that is currently in-game, Torkoal!

When it comes to Unown, we can expect the same pattern as previous events, and in this case we would deem it appropriate to either use Unown L,A,T,A,M (For Latino-America) or M,E,X,I,C,O (For México).

Unown M Unown E Unown X
Unown I Unown C Unown O
Final Notes

Following the average turnout of Pokémon in Safari Zones, along with adding the presence of a Regional and also Unown, we have a nearly complete roster here to run the event, however we wouldn’t mind coming across a few new guys while we are at it,or better said, a few new shinies perhaps?

Event Announcement + Details

In order for Trainers to better visualize this event, here’s a mock-up of an announcement for this grand event:

“Trainers,

What better way is there to celebrate the end of Summer than by having a Fiesta! Have fun and take part in Pokémon GO’s first ever Latin America Safari Zone event at Parque Fundidora in Monterrey, México, from August 3rd to 5th!

Parque Fundidora is one of the largest Parks of Northern México, and it includes many features such as Museums, lakes, art Galleries, and much more. Lure Modules will be activated all day at the more than 100 Pokéstops throughout Parque Fundidora, and special 2 km Eggs will be available when you spin their Photo Discs. As you walk along the park, you will encounter Pokémon such as Unown and the never before seen Shiny Cacnea and Shiny Lotad!

Plus, activities will extend to all of Monterrey City, inviting Trainers from all over Latin America to explore the culturally diverse city through Pokémon GO. In addition to this, the Safari Zone will also offer Team themed lounges which will include mobile phone charging stations and snack areas.

This is a free event meant for all Trainers, but be sure to make plans early to get accomodations for this once in a lifetime opportunity. More details are available on the event’s website. And don’t forget to share your plans with us using #SafariZoneMonterrey and #HolaNiantic on all your social channels. We can’t wait to see you there!”

Special Appearances

Considering that this event would be composed of “a day of first”, we deem it only appropriate to also come across a few new editions for this event. We would like to note that we do not mean these Pokémon would be exclusive to the event area, instead, their release would occur worldwide, but the event area has an increase spawn rate of the Pokémon, so Trainers who go in person will have a likelier chance of finding one.

Shiny Cacnea

This would be the first time a Safari Zone has introduced a shiny Pokémon, but we think it deserves it. One of México’s most identifying features all around the globe is its grand variety of Desert Flora and Fauna, and the most iconic symbol of this is? The Cactus (of course), Trainers upon seeing Cacnea’s release were already eager to give it some classic Mexican names, but what better way to inspire a Latin American Trainer then by providing the Shiny that represents them best?

Shiny Cacnea Family
Shiny Lotad

Let’s be honest, no one in Latin America is really interested in Shiny Lotad, however Shiny Ludicolo is a completely different story. Ever since its release in the Pokémon Universe, everyone and their dog has known that Ludicolo was based on the traditional Mexican stereotype of the Sombrero, and culturally, we can confirm that as being true. Sombreros and colorful patterns have been around México since around the 15th century, and we are proud to see it represented here.

Shiny Lotad Family
Sombrero Hat Pikachu

Up until now I don’t think we have seen a Trainer become overly ecstatic for a Hat Pikachu, but like I said; until now. To go along with the Mexican Fiesta, Trainers have mentioned that they would love to see Sombrero Hat Pikachu make an appearance, although we would like to have it appear globally so Trainers worldwide can get a taste of the action, higher Pikachu spawns in Parque Fundidora should highlight this wonderful Pikachu and its wonderful Sombrero.

Now, we don’t have an in-game Mexican Pikachu Models, but we do have these artist renderings, credits to each of their respective creators.

Mexican Pikachu
Final Notes

Although they wouldn’t be necessary, being a Latin American Event, these special additions to the game would not only be a great way to reward Trainers for going to the event itself, but also to show Trainers worldwide a little bit more about the (up until now) forgotten region of Latin America.

Final Notes

Trainers in Latin America have waited for a Pokémon GO event ever since the game was released, from personal experience I can say that the Latin American culture is one that knows no boundaries and has no limits as to what it can do, the #HolaNiantic mission was only a sliver of what all of Latin America can accomplish, and we are sure that with Niantic’s help, Pokémon GO can cause an even greater impact than the one it already has.

If the recent additions we have seen up until now are any indication, Niantic’s focus may just be changing to being Latin American Oriented, and after this amount of time of being ignored, we can only hope that events such as the one above can come soon.
What would you like to see in a Latin America Event? Where would you want to see it and what would you like to find when you get there?

Be sure to tell us your thoughts and keep pushing for a Latin America Event!

Digamos, ¿En comparación a Go-Fest?

Image result for pokemon go cacnea Image result for pokemon go lotad
Image result for pokemon go pikachu Image result for pokemon go numel
Image result for pokemon go trapinch Image result for pokemon go rhyhorn
Image result for pokemon go torchic
Regional and Unown Pokémon

Unown M Unown E Unown X
Unown I Unown C Unown O
Final Notes

This is a free event meant for all Trainers, but be sure to make plans early to get ACCOMMODATIONS for this once in a lifetime opportunity. More details are available on the event’s website. And don’t forget to share your plans with us using #SafariZoneMonterrey and #HolaNiantic on all your social channels. We can’t wait to see you there!”

— NO EL equipo DE Pokémon GO

Apariencias Especiales

Familia Cacnea Varicolor
Lotad Varicolor

Let’s be honest, no one in Latin America is really interested in Shiny Lotad, however Shiny Ludicolo is a completely different story. Ever since its release in the Pokémon Universe, everyone and their dog has known that Ludicolo was based on the traditional Mexican stereotype of the Sombrero, and culturally, we can confirm that as being true. Sombreros and colorful patterns have been around México since around the 15th century, and we are proud to see it represented here.
