Alola to Alola Special Research

Alola to Alola Special Research is a branching special research quest line released during the Alola to Alola event in Pokémon GO. It is available from May 25th, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. local time and lasts until completed.

The quest line revisits key locations in the Alola region, features select Alolan Pokémon and allows players to collect the new Oricorio hats. Only one hat can be obtained from the Special Research, as players have to decide which path to follow during the quest line.

Story

Professor Willow

%PLAYERNAME%! Good to see you. How’ve you been? Rested and relaxed, I hope? I’ve been full of energy since I saw Tapu Fini. And as I thought more about that encounter, I realized that over these past few months, we’ve been seeing quite a few Pokémon that were first found in Alola.

And you—you’ve even been lucky enough to see all four of Alola’s island guardians! I can’t say I’m completely free of envy, but I’m glad you were able to have those experiences.

After all, we professors owe much of our learning to adventurous Trainers like yourself! I wonder if our friendship would be as fruitful if our roles were reversed… I’d sure like to hope so! Haha!

Keep exploring, %PLAYERNAME%. You never know what you might find!

How to pick which path to pursue?

Here are the different items you will get depending on which path you choose:

  • 💛 Melemele: 2 Poffin, 1 Lure & 4 Lucky Eggs
  • 💖 Akala: 2 Incense, 3 Incubators
  • ❤️ Ula’ula: 3 Different Lures, 4 Incense
  • 💜 Poni: 2 Rocket Radars, 1 Raid Pass, 3 Star Pieces

Melemele island path seems to be intended for Trainer who are in need of more experience, and are willing to trade Pokémon in real life.

Akala is good for Trainers who enjoy hatching eggs, but be aware that you need to hatch 3 Eggs, and that it can be easy to spend the reward Incubators on that task.

Ula’Ula is designed for Trainers who enjoy catching and plan to do mostly stationary gameplay focused around Lures.

Poni is fine, but you still need to use a Rocket Radar to get all of the rewards, which means you will actually earn 1 Rocket Radar from it, not two.
