Inventory Management

Posted in

Item space is easily one of the most confusing and frustrating aspects of the game. Having a finite number of items you can carry at any given time means decisions will need to be made from time to time based on what your personal focus is in game. We can all easily remember tossing out unwanted Potions only to regret it a couple battles later. So let’s take a look at optimizing the space we have.

A trainer is given 300 inventory spaces for starting on their adventure, and can increase the limit at the cost of 200 Poke Coins per Bag Upgrade to a maximum of 2000.

Inventory Items:

The items that fill up a trainer’s inventory fall into 3 main categories that should each be given approximately a third of your available space; Catching, Battling, and Others. Depending on which aspect a trainer is specifically focusing on, the amount of space allocated can fluctuate. There is no wrong way to manage your inventory, but we at the Hub feel like the following guidelines will be helpful for new comers as they start their adventures.

Catching:

Catching is the main focus of Pokemon Go and should be give at least a third of any well rounded trainers inventory. This section accounts mainly for the various Poke Balls and berries trainers carry around with them. Many trainers may opt to commit this entire section of inventory to Poke Balls alone, and use space in other areas for berries.

Battling:

Based on trainer preference, this section should also be given roughly a third of your inventory space. These items include the different types of Potions and Revives. Trainers that are more focused on taking over gyms and raiding will want to dedicate a larger amount of space for these items.

Others:

This part of a trainer’s inventory is allocated to all the other items they choose to carry and is open to be used however they feel is best. Depending on the trainers focus, this space can be easily filled with Lucky Eggs, Raid Pass, Incense, Star Pieces and Berries. Often times trainers will use this space to allow for additional catching and/or battling inventory.

Berries:

These tasty Pokemon treats offer tons of benefits when it comes to catching and evolving Pokemon. Pinap berries are specifically helpful when trying to gather enough candies to do a mass evolution for quick XP. Berries can also very quickly fill up your precious inventory space. When you find yourself flush with berries make sure you feed them to your teams defending gyms for 20 Stardust and 10 gym xp a pop!

An example of a maxed out (2000 items) inventory using the above suggestions would look like the following:

Item Count
Potion x25
Super Potion x25
Hyper Potion x225
Max Potion x150
Revive x150
Max Revive x75
Poke Ball x250
Great Ball x250
Ultra Ball x150
Camera x1
Egg Incubator (infinite) x1
Other x698
Total 2000
