Hey Trainers,
Despite being the first Mega Evolution for many players via the Special Research line “A Mega Discovery”, Mega Beedrill has never actually been available through raids before! Isn’t that strange? Well, it’s time to give it a proper raid boss analysis about a year after its debut.
Beedrill (Mega)Mega Beedrill’s a budget bug beast, boasting a bountiful attack stat with a cheaper than normal 100 initial and 20 subsequent mega energy cost. It’s likely to be the best Poison attacker for years to come, which is meaningful for the future Alolan quartet, the Tapus, especially Tapu Bulu, which is doubly weak to Poison. It can also function as a Bug attacker against the plentiful Psychic type legendaries, such as Mewtwo, Cresselia, and more.
It’s a BugPoison type, so many types are strong against it. Use Psychic, Fire, Rock, and types to swat this bee. Be mindful that although Psychic is super effective, Bug can hit it right back for weakness. Bee careful!
Mega Beedrill doesn’t have amazing bulk, so it can be beaten with 2-3 trainers no problem. Just watch out for that massive attack stat, it rivals Mewtwo’s! Figure out its movepool from recommendations, you don’t want to bring a Mewtwo in against X-Scissor.

Mega Beedrill is very powerful, but it has low defence. Be cautious in Cloudy or Rainy weather, and if it’s Windy, Sunny, or Partly Cloudy, change your team to match.
Closing
Mega Beedrill is a potent attacker, and it’s easy to get the energy for since they literally hand you some via a special research and some field research tasks. Granted, that may make it an unpopular raid boss, which is fair. Still, it’s an easy duo, so if you like to challenge yourself give it a shot!
Stay safe, Trainers!
