Metagross Raid Counters Guide

Posted in

Metagross is a Tier 3 raid boss in Pokemon GO, with 25440 CP. The best Metagross counters are strong Fire, Ghost, and Ground Pokemon. Metagross can have the following CPs if caught after defeating the raid boss:

  • 2078 – 2166 CP at level 20, no weather boost
  • 2598 – 2708 CP at level 25, with Snow or Windy weather boost

The problem with Raid Boss Metagross is that it resists a huge number of move types. Be careful when picking counters and optimize your team before going in.

A fairly diverse pool, notable additions include Victini, with its signature move V-Create making it the fourth-best Fire type in the game at the time of writing, and the addition of both forms of Mega Charizard, most of all Mega Charizard Y with an insane Attack stat of 319. Absent from this list is the previous top attacker for Metagross raids, being Moltres, in lieu of a stronger Ground type presence that is more accessible than some of the legendaries on this list.

When attempting a solo, Gengar as a glass cannon would be handy, and a healthy mix of any of the legendary Pokemon on the list should do just fine.
