Shiny Altered Form Giratina is coming to Pokemon GO, starting September 23, 2019! Altered Forme Giratina will be appearing as a Tier 5 raid boss, with a special raid hour taking place on September 25, 2019.

Update 23/09/2019: Altered Giratina is now available in Pokemon GO raids, both normal and shiny form. Available until October 17th 2019.

Event Date + Time

  • From Monday, September 23, 2019, at 1 p.m. PDT (GMT −7) to Thursday, October 17, 2019, at 1 p.m. PDT (GMT −7): Giratina in its Altered Forme will be available in five-star raids.
  • On September 25, 2019, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in your local time zone: There will be an increased number of five-star raids, featuring Altered Forme Giratina.

Features

  • If you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny Altered Forme Giratina!

Shiny Altered Giratina is a beautiful catch, but there’s more to it. Both Forms of Giratina are powerhouses in Ultra League PvP. The high Defense (for Altered Form) and Stamina (for both Forms) allow Giratina to take significant damage.

With 284 stamina, Altered Giratina can soak up a metric ton of damage in wild PvP formats.

Unfortunately, Altered Giratina is not usable in the Great League as it has CP in the 1848 – 1931 CP range in raid catch encounters. Boosted encounters will net you a 2310 – 2414 CP Altered Giratina, which is excellent for Ultra League. Giratina is boosted by Fog and Windy weather.

Shiny Altered Form Giratina

Shiny Altered Form Giratina features a white chocolate colored body, bright blue stripes and silver bone armor. Looks good to me!

Altered Giratina Counters

As described in depth in our Altered Giratina Counters Guide, Giratina is weak to Dragon, Dark, Ghost, and Ice-types, such as Rayquaza, Palkia, Dragonite, Latios, Gengar, Shadow Ball Mewtwo, and Tyranitar.

Altered Giratina raids should be an easy trio with even a duo possibility, but we’ll see about that after a few simulation rounds.

Here’s what the simulations say about counters (no friendship bonus and no weather bonuses accounted for, level 30 counters):
