We already know that Flying Pikachu is coming to Pokémon GO as part of the fourth anniversary celebration this Friday, July 3, 2020. Starting this Friday, Flying Pikachu will be appearing in the wild and in raids. If you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny one!

However, there was a lot of debate on how the new form will look like, and whether or not it will just be a Pikachu that knows Fly.

Well, Fly appeared in the Game Master yesterday, and today we got a first preview of how the new Pikachu form will look like.

Four new sprites were added yesterday:

  • Male and female Flying Pikachu sprites
  • Two new souvenir sprites: Souvenir Confetti and Souvenir Pikachu Visor

We’re happy to see that Niantic decided to go with the original card’s design for Pikachu, rather than just opting to add a new hat form.

We look forward to seeing how the balloons are animated on the overworld map!
