On Wednesday, May 30, The Pokémon Company held a Questions and Answers session to accompany the Pokémon Let’s Go! announcement. Eurogamer.net and other members of the European press were present at the Q&A session and relayed the information collected to the internet.

Here’s what was shared during the Q&A (we pulled the parts that include Pokémon GO):
— Connecting Pokémon GO and Let’s Go will be a simple Bluetooth connection, requiring button presses in both games.
— You can transfer Pokémon from GO to Let’s Go (not vice versa) and they don’t go straight into your collection or party, they end up in a “Safari park type thing”.
— You can play mini games with transferred Pokémon and transferring multiple same-species Pokémon from GO is encouraged.
— A big emphasis with Let’s Go games is on parents and kids who play together. Let’s Go enables kids without smartphones to go outside and catch Pokémon on the switch, while parents are playing Pokémon GO.
— Pokémon GO introduced a lot of people to Pokémon (800 million downloads) and, as a result, Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee is a game that wants to marry traditional Pokémon RPG and Pokémon GO audience.
So what would make me happiest would be if Pokémon Go players and traditional Pokémon RPG players actually come together and are throwing out Pokéballs together, either with the Joy-Con or using their smartphones, and really enjoying Pokémon together.
Other important tidbits
- Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee are being worked on alongside the core RPGs coming in 2019. The Let’s Go series wasn’t a risk-avoiding thing.
- There’s a chance of Let’s Go series existing alongside a main series, but it depends on the sales an the general reception of the games
- The overworld map is very true to the original Pokémon Yellow games
- Poké Ball Plus has some hidden features that Masuda didn’t want to reveal. These features will make the Pokémon stored in the Poké Ball fell alive.
