Registeel and other New Raid Bosses appearing from July 19 to August 16 2018

Trainers, Registeel has appeared in raid battles around the world, marking the second released Legendary Regi to appear in Pokemon GO. To accompany the new Regi, a few additional bosses have been released, focusing on Ground, Fighting, Fire and Grass types.

Here’s a full list of Raid Bosses that are appearing from July 19th to August 16th 2018, when Regirock and a new wave of themed bosses is scheduled to appear:

Table format (bold marks new bosses):

Tier 1 Charmander, Makuhite, Meditite, Omanyte, Wailmer, Magikarp
Tier 2 Alolan Exeggutor, Kirlia, Magmar, Mawile, Sudowoodo
Tier 3 Porygon, Alolan Raichu, Donphan, Flareon, Machamp, Onix
Tier 4 Houndoom, Alolan Marowak, Absol, Golem, Rhydon, Tyranitar
Tier 5 Registeel

Here’s a quick summary of notable new Raid bosses:

Kirlia – this is the perfect opportunity to get a high IV Kirlia and farm Ralts candy in preparation for Gallade (Gen IV, Fighting Psychic). Kirlia is arguably the most future-proof raid boss you can do right now, trading places with Magmar and Porygon.

Magmar – although it has been available since the game launch, Magmar is a rare catch and this could be a good opportunity to farm candy in preparation for Magmortar (Gen IV)

Alolan Raichu – a raid exclusive Pokemon that you can easily solo with appropriate counters. We suggest going for a few solo raids and snagging a good one. Refer to our Alola Raichu Raid Boss guide for a detailed list of counters.

Porygon – Porygon is ultra rare, and you should use every chance to get some additional Candy for Porygon-Z (Gen IV, expected to be a great generalist). Porygon can be easily soloed, check our Porygon Solo Raid Guide for more info.

Alolan Marowak – another raid exclusive Pokemon, which unexpectedly landed in the Level 4 Raid group. We suggest grouping up with a few fellow trainers and making sure everyone catches it. The fight is surprisingly difficult, and we advise to follow our Alolan Marowak Raid Guide while picking counters and assembling your team.

Houndoom – we don’t know what the future holds for Pokemon that can mega evolve, but we know how well Houndoom performs as a Mewtwo counter. Players from the northern hemisphere should have a good chance at catching a boosted 100% IV Houndoom while the event lasts.

Registeel – well, to be honesty, everyone knows by now that the Regis are not particularly useful. Luckily, Registeel can be easily taken down by 4-5 players with mediocre counters, as outlined in our Registeel Raid Guide: Best Counters, Moves, IVs and CPs. Do a few Regi raids and focus on farming Kirlia afterwards.
