How to Get Necrozma, Dusk Mane Necrozma, and Dawn Wings Necrozma

Posted in

Necrozma is a new Legendary Pokémon that will be introduced during Pokémon GO Fest 2024 event series, starting with Pokémon GO Fest 2024: Sendai, Japan, and culminating with a massive worldwide rollout during Pokémon GO Fest 2024: Global.

Necrozma’s two forms – Dusk Mane Necrozma and Dawn Wings Necrozma – will be released in Pokémon GO during the same time, and bring a new mechanic to the game: Pokémon fusions.

This article describes how to get Necrozma, how to get the two Necrozma fusion forms, and how the fusion mechanics work in respect to IVs, shiny status, and resource usage.

How to get Necrozma in Pokémon GO

Necrozma

Necrozma is exclusively available as a catch reward from defeating Dusk Mane Necrozma and Dawn Wings Necrozma in Tier 5 Raids during the upcoming GO Fest 2024 events.

During Pokémon GO Fest 2024: MadridPokémon GO Fest 2024: New York City, and Pokémon GO Fest 2024: Sendai, Japan, Trainers will be able to defeat Dawn Wings and Dusk Mane Necrozma, encounter Necrozma and earn Fusion Energy.

Necrozma will not be available outside of these events at this time. This is subject to change in the future.

How to get Shiny Necrozma?

Shiny Necrozma is available as a random encounter following the fight with Dusk Mane Necrozma and Dawn Wings Necrozma. Once you defeat them, an encounter with Necrozma will start, and it has a chance to be shiny. Here’s how shiny Necrozma compares to regular Necrozma:

Normal Necrozma Shiny Necrozma
regular necrozma shiny necrozma

How to get Dusk Mane Necrozma

Necrozma (Dusk Mane)

Dusk Mane Necrozma can be created by fusing Solgaleo and Necrozma, using Solar Fusion Energy. You need the following resources to create a Dusk Mane Necrozma:

  • 30 Cosmog Candy
  • 30 Necrozma Candy
  • 1000 Solar Fusion Energy

How to get Solar Fusion Energy

Solar Fusion Energy can be obtained by defeating Dusk Mane Necrozma in Tier 5 Raids during GO Fest 2024 events, or by completing a ticketed Special Research that will grant enough Solar Fusion Energy to fuse Necrozma once into Dusk Mane Necrozma.

During Pokémon GO Fest 2024: Global, Trainers will also receive Cosmog Candy upon successfully completing one of these raids.

How to get Dawn Wings Necrozma

Necrozma (Dawn Wings)

Dawn Wings Necrozma can be created by fusing Lunala and Necrozma, using Lunar Fusion Energy. You need the following resources to create a Dawn Wings Necrozma:

  • 30 Cosmog Candy
  • 30 Necrozma Candy
  • 1000 Lunar Fusion Energy

How to get Lunar Fusion Energy

Lunar Fusion Energy can be obtained by defeating Dusk Mane Necrozma in Tier 5 Raids during GO Fest 2024 events, or by completing a ticketed Special Research that will grant enough Lunar Fusion Energy to fuse Necrozma once into Dawn Wings Necrozma.

During Pokémon GO Fest 2024: Global, Trainers will also receive Cosmog Candy upon successfully completing one of these raids.

Necrozma Fusion Mechanics and Costs

We asked Niantic to clarify a couple of hot topics regarding Necrozma’s IVs and how they transfer to fused forms, as well as some questions about the cost:

  • Fused forms will inherit Necrozma’s IVs, just as they do in the main series games
  • When Necrozma is fused, it keeps all the characteristics, including IVs, from its base form, rather than pooling with Solgaleo/Lunala, so you’ll need to get everything you want on Necrozma. Solgaleo/Lunala won’t have any bearing on Necrozma’s stats when fused.
  • Same thing applies for Shiny status – shiny Necrozma will result in shiny Dawn Wings and Dusk Mane Necrozma
  • There will be no reduction in Fusion cost when you fuse the same Necrozma multiple times. This is by design, as this process is different from Mega Evolving a Pokémon. Fusions are semi-permanent, hence it no reduced cost
  • The process to collect Solar and Lunar Fusion Energy is expected to take more fights than it takes to obtain Mega Energy
