Trainers,

this morning the Game Master file has changed again, adding all of the Gen III Pokemon stats, capture encounter info (camera movement, jump sequence, hit box size, etc…) and evolution candy requirements.

As of the time of this writing, all newly added Pokemon have placeholder moves (Tackle/Struggle) and buddy distances (5KM). No sight of abilities or new moves yet, but we’re expecting them in a later Game Master update. In addition, Latios and Latias genders have been fixed.

We are in the process of updating our Database with the new info. The new Game Master file can be explored here, and you can find all of the new Buddy distances in our Generation 3 Evolution Chart, which is now updated with the latest correct info.

Compared to Gen I and II, almost nothing changed in terms of evolution requirements:

  • 2 stage evolution lines cost 50 Candy, with the exception of the Feebas line
  • 3 stage evolution lines cost 25 + 100 Candy, with the exception of Wurmple and Whismur lines
  • All split evolution lines cost 50 Candy, including Nincada to Ninjask / Shedinja

As hinted above, Niantic did manage to surprise us with a few evolution lines:

We expect that the Feebas line will likely have a Buddy distance requirement, while Wurmple and Whismur will become the new Pidgey/Caterpie mass evolution fodder.

  • WingedSupernova

Feebas to Milotic only 100?! Hopefully that buddy requirement isn’t too bad.

    • Daniel Doiron

pretty sure it’ll be 5KM a candy , dont get your hopes up lol

  • Ali Habsy

Yeah only 100 candies but it requires a special item. With more special items added, it will be more difficult to find that one we truly want. But maybe its only about time

    • Marco De Freitas

How do you know that there is a special item ?

      • Kosta Stoupas

In the main series games you need a Prism Scale (or high beauty, which we don’t have in GO) for Feebas to evolve to Milotic.

        • Marco De Freitas

I know but in the main series, a looooot of 1G pokémon need an evolution stone to evolve, and not in pokémon go

          • Ali Habsy

Well my bad. Its not confirmed yet. But for me, it would cost a Prism Scale to evolve for Milotic. Just my opinion

    • Uriel Avila

      They forgot the clampearl items

  • Tomasz Bielak

And what about evolution items? Is there any confirmed information (found in code) which pokemon need it to evolve?

  • tikootje1

What about rare candy? will we be able to use them imediately, or will we have to wait a few weeks / months?

    • Curtis Beales

I reckon they can be used immediately. They were on Legendaries when they came out. I’ve got 300 saved up incase i get anything good quickly.

  • Leo Luo

You guys spelled Kirlia wrong in the example part.

    • Marcos Gomes

      ok nerd

  • Marco De Freitas

Any hint about how the evolution of Wurmple into Cascoon/Silcoon will work ?

    • brandon braun

Just like the main games and series itself if you aren’t aware.. If its a female wurmple it’ll evolve to Beautifly for its final evolution for its second it’ll be silicoon.. Its male version.. I think you know what it will be next Cascoon if its a male Wurmple and it evolves to dustox for its final evolution

      • Valor rubia

Er no! Depending on which version of Wurple you want would depend on the time of day it was caught not gender. You will only get a Silcoon if Wurple evolves during the day and a Wurple that evolves into Cascoon caught at night.

        • LincolnAG

I don’t think that is correct. I remember Wurmple’s evolution having to do with its personality trait, which is random.

          • peponzio

There were so many rumors. Time of day, gender, happiness, other pokemon in the party, even leveling.

It was the personality trait indeed. When the pokemon was created by the random number generator its personality was defined and therefore its evolution line. As soon as a wurmple was seen it was already destined to evolve one way or the other.

It’s like schrodinger’s cat. Wurmple is both a Beautifly and a Dustox until you encounter it.

        • Chanderule

Why do you two spread misinformation

  • Tomikuski

    cool

  • Luke Davies

Just a thought with Feebas perhaps you have to walk it 10k when you go a certain distance perhaps it finds a prism scale you can use to evolve it with the 100 candies

  • Dan

Prior to launch tomorrow, they’ll have to update the movesets for at least the ghost types. All of Gen III may be launched during the event. We shall see.

    • Daniel Doiron

it’s just 4-5 pokemon for gen 3 for tmr, rest of gen 3 is nov or dec

      • Dan

There’s no known launch time for the rest of Gen 3. I’m just saying that there’s a possibility it could be launched during the event. Regardless, the placeholder moves will need to be fixed before tomorrow.
