Regidrago is a Legendary Pokemon, an Elite Raid Boss available only during Elite Raid weekends, and it is one of the most challenging Pokemon to defeat in Pokemon Go. Regidrago is a pure Dragon type Pokémon, which leaves them vulnerable to Fairy, Ice and Dragon type moves. Quite a formidable opponent.

To defeat Regidrago in an Elite Raid, you need to have a team of powerful Pokemon with the right movesets and strategies. This Regidrago Counters Guide will help you to prepare for the Elite Raid and defeat Regidrago with ease.

Regidrago can be caught in the following Combat Power ranges:

  • 1614 CP – 1699 CP (no weather boost, LVL 20)
  • 2017 CP – 2124 CP (Windy weather, LVL 25)

We recommend fighting Regidrago with a minimum of 5 Trainers with perfect counters, or 8+ Trainers with suboptimal counters. Given its limited availability, we recommend larger group sizes for this encounter.

This is going to be an easier Elite Raid than Hoopa Unbound was due to their attack stats, but still a challenge as it is above Tier 5. Your biggest concern with Regidrago is the whopping HP stat of 400. You need to be prepared that this may be a slower battle, so be prepared with your best counters possible!

Best Regidrago Counters

Regidrago is a Dragon-type Pokémon. It is weak to Dragon, Fairy, and Ice type moves. It takes reduced damage from Electric, Fire, Grass, and Water type moves. Although Regidrago has a variety of counters, do not take this fight lightly, it is quite challenging.

With that being said, here are the best counters for Regidrago in Pokémon GO:

Since Shadow Pokémon are extremely expensive to power up and require specific events to remove Frustration with a Charge TM, they will NOT be listed as raid counters in this article. That being said, if you have the shadow form of a listed raid counter Pokémon powered up and TMed, use it.

Regidrago moves in Pokémon GO

Fast Moves Charge Moves
  • Bite Dark
  • Outrage Dragon
  • Hyper Beam Normal
  • Dragon Pulse Dragon

Regidrago’s moveset consists of a single Dark type fast move that won’t particularly trouble your counters, but we have to be weary of the two Dragon type charged moves. When you enter the lobby take a look at what is being recommended for you, is it fairies and ice types?

Then it probably has a dragon type charged attack and we would recommend avoiding dragon types as counters as they will one shot them. Utilise those fairies and ice types in that case! If dragons are recommended heavily, then it probably has Hyper Beam which won’t be super effective against any of your counters, so it is safe to bring out your dragons.

Reminder about Elite Raids

Elite Raids are a new type of raid focused on in-person play, and they will appear at selected EX Gyms worldwide. Elite Raids are designed to be challenging, a bit over Tier 5 difficulty, and they can only be completed in-person.

Elite Raid Eggs take 24 hours to hatch, and Trainers will have only 30 minutes to complete them once the Raid Egg has hatched. Since these Raids can only be completed in-person, Trainers are encouraged to organise well ahead of time and not be late for the spawn.

Elite Raids can only start at one of the following local times:

  • 11:00 a.m.
  • 2:00 p.m.
  • 5:00 p.m.

Trainers will see a special Raid Egg on top of an EX Gym 24 hours before the Raid starts, and the Elite Raid Eggs will also be visible on the Nearby radar, and in Niantic Campfire.

For more information see our Elite Raids are coming to Pokémon GO article.
