Pokemon Direct January 2020 scheduled for Jan 9 2020

Nintendo has scheduled a new Pokémon Direct livestream for Thursday, January 9th, at 6:30 a.m. PT. The presentation promises 20 minutes of new Pokémon information in a livestreamed Pokémon Direct presentation.

The January Pokémon Direct will air at 9:30 a.m. ET/6:30 a.m. PT on Nintendo’s YouTube and Twitch channels, as well as Facebook and Twitter. We never had a 20 minutes long Pokémon Direct, and the expectations from this presentation are quite high.

Nintendo has not shared what information will be disclosed, but the fan base already established a set of expectations that could be shared.

Pokémon Home, Pokémon Sleep and the Nintendo Switch version of Detective Pikachu are most likely to get some new information, as all of them were announced during the Pokémon 2019 Press Conference (May 2019):

According to Pokémon.com, Pokémon HOME is expected to launch in early 2020 on iOS and Android devices as well as Nintendo Switch. Pokémon Sleep is should be launching for mobile devices in 2020, powered by a new device called Pokémon GO Plus +.

Very little is known about these services and devices, but we do know that HOME allows Trainers to manage their collection of Pokémon across many of their games. Plus, they can trade with friends or with anyone around the world directly using Pokémon HOME via mobile device.

Aside from these titles, there’s a lot of speculation / wishful thinking about the following announcements (aka the crazy stuff):

  • New Pokémon / Mythical Pokémon / Gigantamax Pokémon for Sword and Shield (Gigantamax Toxtricity and Melmetal)
  • Sword and Shield sequels, in line with Black and White 2
  • MCU of Pokémon movies, building on top of Detective Pikachu’s cinematic success
  • Diamond and Pearl remakes (finally!)
  • Reverse decision to cull older Pokémon from future games
  • DLC for Sword and Shield
  • Mystery Dungeon Switch

All of these are fan suggestions and we’d be super surprised to see them included. Keep your expectations in check and don’t over-hype yourself!
