Pokémon GO Friends List Limited Increased!

Posted in

In the last 24 hours trainers have been reporting that suddenly they appeared to be able to accept additional friend requests in Pokémon GO, taking them over the known 400 limit.

It appears that Niantic have quietly raised the friends list limit to 450! The official Help Centre article now reads:

“You can have up to 450 friends in your Niantic Friend List, including friends from other Niantic Apps. Once you reach this limit, you’ll need to remove friends before you can add new ones.”

This is the second time the friends list has been increased since friendship was initially launched, with the original limit being 200, being lifted to 400. This is a much smaller increase of only 50, but we’ll take any increase we can get! Friendship is a great way to grind XP, and with endless rumours of level 60 coming to Pokémon GO, we’ll need all the XP we can get our hands on.

Players that are working on levelling up in Pokémon GO know how quickly the required XP for each level grows. One way of grinding XP is through friendship level ups.

Friendship Level XP XP with lucky egg
Good Friends 3,000 6,000
Great Friends 10,000 20,000
Ultra Friends 50,000 100,000
Best Friends 100,000 200,000

Friendship also offers a boost in raids!

Level Damage Bonus Extra Premier Balls
Good Friends (1 Day) 3% 0
Great Friends (7 Days) 5% 1
Ultra Friends (30 Days) 7% 2
Best Friends (90 Days) 10% 4

The following tables shows all Pokémon GO trading costs with respect to the type of Pokemon you’re trading, Pokedéx status and friendship level:
