Huge Text Update For Dynamaxing, Plus All The Moves Discovered In A New Update

Attention, Pokémon Trainers! A ton of new texts have been pushed for Dynamaxing, and we know a lot more about how it’s all going to work. This plus all of the Gigantamax Pokémon, plus all the Dynamax and G-Max moves as well!

All the information contained in this article has been provided publicly by the PokéMiners and other Dataminers, and this article includes some of my commentaries. Remember, while the data miners have provided this information, always take these updates with a grain of salt. Some of these features might take a while to go live or may never go live at all.

Too Long, Didn’t Read

Alright, for those of you who want a quick and dirty recap of what we think’s going to happen this section is for you.

What we “know”

Again, this is all datamined information and is subject to change.  Hence the quotes around the word “know”

  • The ‘MP’ that data miners have been seeing for a while are called Max Particles
  • The new points of interest on the map will be called Power Spots
  • You will be able to catch Dynamax Pokémon in the wild at these Power Spots
  • You can use those Dynamax Pokémon to battle the Boss of the Power Spot
  • If you defeat that boss, you can leave a Dynamax Pokémon at the Power Spot to help other trainers defeat the boss.
  • The maximum number of Pokémon you can leave at Power Spots is 20
  • Leaving Pokémon at Power Spots will earn you candy.

What we don’t “know”

  • Where the Power Spots are going to be on the map, will they take over existing POI’s or not?
  • How many Max Particles you can collect
  • How many Max Particles you’ll need to battle
  • How difficult the bosses will be at the Power Spots
  • What is the time frame for the bosses? Is it 30 minutes? 60 minutes? 24 hours?
  • What is the time frame for leaving your Pokémon at the Power Spots, will they get automatically returned?
  • Can the Dynamax Pokémon be Shiny?

Max Particles

Max Particles
You can't collect more Max Particles today

Collect Max Particles from Power Spots.
You can use them to battle at Power Spots or train Max Moves

Received {0} Max Particles from Power Spot
Received {0} Max Particles from walking

Your Nearby menu has been upgraded!
Visit Power Spots and walk to collect Max Particles.

We now know that MP stands for Max Particles. It looks like you’ll be able to collect them by walking, and from Power Spots. It looks like the Power Spots will show up on the nearby, which will make them easy to find and collect Max Particles.

Power Spots

Power Spot

The new POIs that are coming to the map, previously called Stations, are called Power Spots

Power Spot Boss

Defeat a Power Spot Boss for a chance to catch them.
You will only use Max Particles if you win the battle

After you defeat a Power Spot Boss, you can place a Pokémon to help other
trainers and earn Candy.

You can place up to 20 Pokémon at Power Spots.

You’ll be able to battle Pokémon at the Power Spots, and if you win you can leave one of your Pokémon to help others defeat the boss and if you do that Pokémon could earn you candy. The cap for placing Pokémon at Power Spots is set at 20.

Abilities For Power Spot Battles

CHEER
maxattack
Max Attack: An extra powerful Charged Attack

MAX GUARD
maxguard
Max Guard: Reduce damage taken from attacks

MAX SPIRIT
maxspirit
Max Spirit: Heal user's and ally's Pokémon in Max Battles

There will be 3 abilities that you will be able to use in these battles:

  • Cheer: This will increase the damage of your charge attacks
  • Max Guard: This will reduce damage taken from the bosses attacks
  • Max Spirit: This will heal you and your ally Pokémon’s Pokémon

Placing Dynamax Pokémon At Power Spots

You may encounter a Pokémon after visiting a Power Spot.
The more Gigantamax Pokémon placed at the Power Spot,
the higher chance you may encounter a wild Dynamax Pokémon.
Get an attack multiplier based on how many Pokémon are placed at the Power Spot

You will be able to place Pokémon at the Power Spot to help other trainers with their battles at the Power Spot. Leaving a Pokémon at the Power Spot will also increase your chances of encountering Dynamax Pokémon at the PowerSpot.

Dynamax Pokémon In The Wild!

To battle at a Power Spot you need to battle with Dynamax Pokemon!
You can catch Dynamax Pokemon in the wild from visiting Power Spots.

It looks like you’ll be able to catch Dynamax Pokémon in the wild at the Power Spots

Don’t Run!

If you run away, you will no longer have a chance to catch this Pokémon

The text explains it all, don’t run from a Dynamax encounter.

When you Gigantimax a capable Pokémon, one of its damaging moves becomes its special G-Max move. In the main series games each of the moves has special effects, but it’s likely they’ll just be extra strong damage moves in GO.  No word on stats for the moves just yet.
