Pokemon GO Gen 2 Candy

Pokémon GO Generation 2 Egg and Distances Chart

A reddit users named Vivpix calculated the Pokemon GO Generation 2 Egg chart by using the same logic Niantic used for Generation I. The original Gameboy games had the same walking mechanism for hatching Poké Eggs, but the difference is that distance was expressed in steps and not in kilometers.

Thanks to prior research on Generation I Eggs, we now know how Niantic converted eggs and Pokemon from the original games into Pokemon GO:

  • below 5000 steps becomes a 2 KM egg
  • 5000-5999 steps (the majority of Pokemon) are 5 KM eggs
  • 6000 and more steps becomes a 10 KM egg

We already know that Niantic followed this rule when creating Generation I Eggs, so it’s believed that Generation II will follow the same pattern. The source for the calculation is a list from Bulbapedia, so take a look if you want to dig deeper.

We created a HTML version of the chart and we’re rehosting Vivipix’s original image version. Enjoy!
