Trainers,

several new upcoming items were added to the GAME_MASTER today, shedding new light on the level requirements and other info related to the new items.

This article features a subset of GM changes that happened this morning, be aware that we are intentionally not covering everything until the dust settles and the GM stabilizes. You can see more info about the new Raid Rewards here.

Game Master changes

  • Fast Technical Machine added
    • will not drop for Trainers under Level 15
  • Charged Technical Machine added
    • will not drop for Trainers under Level 25
  • Rare Candy added
    • will not drop for Trainers under Level 5
  • Premier Ball added
    • does not drop from normal Spins
  • Paid Raid ticket added
    • does not drop from normal Spins
  • Nanab Berries have changed 
    • now require Trainer Level 4 to drop
  • STAB has changed: the new STAB bonus multiplier is 1.2
    • Several Changes to Type effectiveness and attack scalars
      • Super effective increased from x1.25 to x1.4

    I found some of the existing Poke-stops (at least 4 near my office) have been converted into new GYMs instead of adding new GYMS this morning. Not sure if that happened at everywhere. Only a very few Poke-stops like 1 or 2 are added also.

      In my town there is 20 new gyms, converted from pokestops

      same here in my village in germany. one pokestop is turned into a gym

      The stop we reach from home changed into a gym, yay! We could see three gyms from our home before, now we can see 7!

      Seeing here also.. some does not make sense.. pokegym should be a place where people can do battle raid .. some places are roadside on footpath that is less than 2m wide

        You though people from Niantec are physically travelling whole world to check gym locations? They have NO IDEA where the gym is. Some gyms are on private property.

    • We know, however, we’re struggling to cover everything that changed, so that is a low priority item for now.

    1000 for highest lvl of raid badge? That’s insane.

      It only requires you to buy 635 raid passes to get it within a year. Yeah, not sure they thought these out.

        They think long term. Lot of people will be getting them four years from now. Come on, not every badge need to be obtainable in month.

          A month, no, but this is requiring 3 years of continuous effort in the best case scenario. That’s assuming raids are available daily, which is unlikely. Do the math, this one isn’t reasonable.

    The STAB/Effectiveness multiplier change is significant! Now Pokémons with non-STAB moves become more effective when used against the right type.

      It’s a little more than that. The net of STAB + Super Effective was 1.56 and is now 1.68. That’s a net gain for Machamp against Blissey, you might think, but Blissey goes from 1.25 to 1.4. That’s a 7.6% damage increase for Machamp and a 12% damage increase for Blissey. Heavy hitter alternatives like Dragonite got nerfed by this by 4% on their STAB moves. This makes Pound/Hyperbeam Blissey less useful, but the rest of the Blisseys are worse.

      The main benefit of this is that Vaporeon’s all-STAB moveset is 4% less overpowered, but by the same token, glass cannons like Alakazam and Gengar are also nerfed a further 4%.
