Nihilego is a Rock and Poison type Ultra Beast Tier-5 Raid boss. Best Nihilego raid counters include powerful Ground, Psychic, Water and Steel types, with a mixed range of different counters available to help you defeat it. It is 2x weak to Ground. As of June 15th 2023 it can be shiny.

Nihilego Raid Boss CP is 48499, and you can catch it in the following CP Ranges:

  • 2167 CP to 2256 CP at Level 20, no weather boost
  • 2709 CP to 2829 CP at Level 25, with Partly Cloudy and Cloudy weather boost

Depending on your levels and counters, we would recommend 3-5 high level Trainers, and more if you don’t have optimal teams. It can be duoed!

Best Nihilego Counters in Pokémon GO

Since Shadow Pokémon are extremely expensive to power up and require specific events to remove Frustration with a Charge TM, they will NOT be listed as raid counters in this article. That being said, if you have the shadow form of a listed raid counter Pokémon powered up and TMed, use it. The figures in our database for DPS and TDO are calculated using Level 40 Pokémon with perfect IVs.

The best raid counters according to our GO Hub battle simulator for Nihilego are:

With a wide range of counters and a fair few different type weaknesses thanks to that Rock and Poison dual typing, most trainers should find themselves able to whip up a strong team of counters.

Since Shadow Pokémon are extremely expensive to power up and require specific events to remove Frustration with a Charge TM, they will NOT be listed as raid counters in this article. That being said, if you have the shadow form of a listed raid counter Pokémon powered up and TMed, use it.

Nihilego Moveset Analysis

Fast Moves Charge Moves
  • Acid Poison
  • Pound Normal
  • Poison Jab Poison
  • Power Gem Rock
  • Rock Slide Rock
  • Sludge Bomb Poison
  • Gunk Shot Poison

Nihilego is the #1 non-mega poison type attacker in the game. Sadly it doesn’t have a Rock type fast move so loses out as a Rock type attacker, but as a Poison type it gains STAB and absolutely rocks!

Nihilego Stats

Conclusion

Nihilego is the first ever Ultra Beast available in Pokémon GO! Ultra Beasts have some amazing stats, and Nihilego now becomes the number one non-mega Poison type attacker in Pokémon GO.
