Charmander Community Day 2020

Pokémon GO’s October Community Day featured Pokémon is Charmander! Charmander is making a return as a Community Day Pokémon, this time giving Trainers an opportunity to evolve a Charizard that knows Dragon Breath. The event takes place on October 17th (Saturday), from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time.

Trainers will be able to participate in a Charmander themed Special Research story called “A Tale of Tails”. As usual, the price for A Tale of Tails ticket is US$1, or the equivalent in your local currency.

Features

  • Charmander will be appearing more frequently in the wild. If you’re lucky, you may encounter a Shiny one!
  • Evolve Charmeleon (the evolved form of Charmander) during the event or up to two hours afterward to get a Charizard that knows Dragon Breath.
  • Complete event-exclusive Timed Research and Field Research tasks to earn Charizard Mega Energy!
  • Take a few snapshots during Community Day for a surprise!
  • There’ll be a special one-time-purchase October Community Day Box available for 1,280 PokéCoins, featuring an Elite Charged TM, three Super Incubators, three Star Pieces, and 30 Ultra Balls.
  • For US$1 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you’ll be able to access the October Community Day–exclusive Special Research story, A Tale of Tails. Rewards for this story will include Charizard Mega Energy.

Note on Blast Burn and Dragon Breath

Official Response From Niantic Re: Dragon Breath/Blast Burn Charizard:

“There is no regular way to get the 2018 Charizard CD move during Charmander CD This will be available through Elite TM as before, we won’t be changing that due to this 2018 CD moves will be incorporated into 2021 events, so we plan on bringing them back and Elite TMs won’t be the only way to get these moves in the future.”
