With that out of the way, let’s get into it!!

Elite TMs

If you remember a few weeks back we published an article with some of the possible ways Niantic could improve the TM situation. Well, trainers, it seems like our prayers have been answered! It appears that Elite TMs are coming! From what has been discovered, it appears that Elite TMs will allow trainers to select what move they want the target Pokemon to learn. No more TM roulette!

There are more than a handful of Pokemon these could be very useful for, but Mew seems like the biggest winner here with its plethora of fast and charge moves. Equipping your Mew with a move-set that you want will suddenly be very easy.

What’s not known is how these TMs will be made available to Trainers. There’s a strong possibility these will be in the shop, but will they be available elsewhere? Go Battle League reward? Rare drop from raids? Field research? That’s left to be seen, however, the fact that they exist at all is incredibly exciting.

Avatar Items

Some wording around avatar items not being compatible with other items has been found. Perhaps this is Niantics’ way of working around how silly some items look when worn together.

"This item conflicts with another item you’re already wearing."

Wayfarer Bonus Quest

Is Niantic trying to promote Wayfarer in-game? Maybe another way to earn an Upgrade?

Text surrounding the Poffin bundles has been added, suggesting that these bundles will show up in the shop soon.

Multiplayer Text Updates

Some updates around Buddy Group AR activities. Some very interesting things here, such as the one referring to being the group leader and swirls. Will rewards be hidden in the group AR sessions? Maybe another way to get photobombed?

Conclusions

I for one am very excited about the discovery of Elite TMs. The current TM system is broken and needs an overhaul and, depending on how they are made available, it is potentially a major quality of life update we all deserve!

Two new events are coming! The Valentine’s day event I think we can safely say we expected, but a Sinnoh event is exciting as well. Maybe we’ll even get shiny Palkia and/or Dialga as part of the event! We already have Shiny Heatran, Altered Giratina and Cresselia. Is it too much to hope for a global release of the Lake trio legendaries?

Changes to the way avatar items are worn are interesting as well. It’s no secret that there are avatar items that look awful when worn with other items. I suspect that Niantic will use this as a workaround to prevent trainers from wearing things together that just don’t work.

Finally, the new text refers to swirls and joining with other trainers in the AR session to find them is very interesting.  Will there be Pokemon or items hiding in the swirls? If not what else could it be? I can’t wait to try it out for myself!

That it! Lots of really awesome information here, and some very exciting stuff!

Are you excited for the prospect of Elite TMs? Do you think we’ll get a new shiny for Valentine’s day? Or the Sinnoh event? Care to guess?

Let me know in the comments and as always stay safe out there trainers!
