Mega Swampert Raid Guide

Posted in
Swampert (Mega) WaterGround

Mega Swampert is a typical Mega Raid boss and should be tackled with 2 to 4 trainers. Mega Swampert is a Water and Ground type Pokémon whose best counters consist of Grass type Pokémon as that’s the only thing it’s weak to, and it’s double weak at that.

Swampert has a raid boss CP of 43153, and can be caught with the following CP values:

  • 1622 – 1699 CP at Level 20 with no weather boost
  • 2027 – 2124 CP at Level 25 with Sunny or Rainy weather boost

Best Mega Swampert Counters in Pokémon GO

List of counters for the Mega Swampert Raid Boss in Pokémon GO, including best Pokémon to defeat it, highest DPS attackers, and moves to use. Learn which Pokémon are the best choice to beat this raid boss.

Since Shadow Pokémon are extremely expensive to power up and require specific events to remove Frustration with a Charge TM, they will NOT be listed as raid counters in this article. That said, if you have the shadow form of a listed raid counter Pokémon powered up and TMed, use it.

How to Get Mega Swampert

You cannot catch Swampert in its mega evolved form from the raid. The mega raid boss is always catchable in its base form and as such, the CP ranges are for a regular Swampert.

Swampert can be caught with the following CP values:

  • 1622 – 1699 CP at Level 20 with no weather boost
  • 2027 – 2124 CP at Level 25 with Sunny or Rainy weather boost

In order to get MegaSwampert you will need 200 Mega Energy for the initial evolution, then 40 Mega Energy to evolve the same Swampert again in the future. Mega Energy can be obtained via Mega Swampert Raids, and once you have evolved Mega Swampert, you can earn 5 Mega Energy per candy while walking it as your buddy. You can walk any Mudkip, Marshtomp or Swampert to earn Mega Energy, as long as you have previously evolved one to register it to your Mega Pokédex.

Moveset Analysis

As Mega Swampert’s counters consist almost exclusively of Grass types, the Poison type move Sludge Wave is a bit of a problem. I say a bit of a problem because the move isn’t fantastic and you should be able to power through without much issue if you do happen to come across a Mega Swampert that has Sludge Wave. Keep an eye out though, you may need to dodge or bring more trainers along. The rest of the moves shouldn’t pose much of an issue.
