Additionally, this article contains my thoughts and opinions in regards to the code that was shared online – all of these should be treated as conjecture, not as hard statements. New Loading Screen

We’ve got a new loading screen, with a very Summer feel to it.  Latios and Latias featured very prominently at the top, and the tail of Mega Charizard X can be spotted in the background.

Go Fest

Badge

.BADGE_GOFEST_2020_TEST
.BADGE_GOFEST_2020_GLOBAL
Added TEXT: Pokémon GO Fest
Added RESOURCE ID: badge_gofest_2020_global

A badge for Go Fest was added, and interestingly a test version as well.

Victini

.V0342_MOVE_V_CREATE
RequestVictiniEncounterForegroundFxPrefab
RequestVictiniEncounterBackgroundFxPrefab

The move V Create was added, in the main series games V-create deals damage and also lowers the user’s Defense, Special Defense, and Speed stats by one stage each.  So it will be interesting to see how the move is integrated into Pokémon Go.

A special encounter screen was also added for Victini, which is similar to past quest-based Mythical encounters.

In-Game Challenge Hub

LOOT_ITEMS
EVENT_ICON_URL
EventBanner
EventBannerWid
eventIcon
eventIconVisibilityController
headerSpinnerCanvasGroup
titleBodyDynamicHeightController
titleBodySpinnerCanvasGroup

The Go Fest Challenge Hub will feature a ton of details, including a banner at the top.

Timed Group Challenge

TIMED_GROUP_CHALLENGE_STARTED
TIMED_GROUP_CHALLENGE_GOAL_MET
GET_TIMED_GROUP_CHALLENGE
TimedGroupChallenge
scoreProgressBar

We will be able to see details about the timed group challenges including a progress bar and personal scores.

TimedGroupChallengePlayerScore
TimedGroupChallengeFriendLeaderboard
ViewFriendsButtonClicked
friendLeaderboardCellViewPrefab

We’ll also be able to see how our friends are doing.  Bragging rights anyone?

TimedGroupChallengeEventBuffWid

There appears to be a buff that will be granted once the challenge is completed.

Event Buff

eventBuffOutline
eventBuffInfoBox
eventBuffInfoBoxCanvas
eventBuffInfoBoxSortingOrderOff
.set
eventBuffInfoText

Speaking of the event buff, It appears the buff will display on-screen similar to the way that lucky eggs, incense and star pieces are displayed.

Same Pokémon, New Forms

PONYTA_GALARIAN
RAPIDASH_GALARIAN
MR_MIME_GALARIAN
CORSOLA_GALARIAN
YAMASK_GALARIAN
SLOWPOKE_GALARIAN
SLOWBRO_GALARIAN

Some more Galarian forms were added.

HALLOWEEN_2020

Spooky Pikachu anyone?  Probably… sigh

LAPRAS_COSTUME_2020
GENGAR_COSTUME_2020

Costume forms for Lapras and Gengar were also found.

Buddy Bits

SOUVENIR_CONFETTI
SOUVENIR_PIKACHU_VISOR

This goes along with souvenirs that were previously discovered.

In addition, a new section called BuddyConsumables was added.  Are our buddies going to find items they can eat that will give them buffs?

New Effects

EFFECT_NONE
EFFECT_CONFETTI_BASIC
EFFECT_CONFETTI_FIRE
EFFECT_CONFETTI_WATER
EFFECT_CONFETTI_GRASS
EFFECT_CONFETTI_RAID_BATTLE
EFFECT_CONFETTI_FRIENDSHIP
EFFECT_CONFETTI_ROCKET
EFFECT_FIREWORKS_PLAIN

Looks like the Confetti you see after raids is getting into a lot more things… That stuff gets everywhere.  The Friendship entry probably refers to friendship level-ups.

It will be interesting to see where else it shows up.  Like the folds of your couch 5 weeks after your kid’s birthday party.

Technical Stuff

Dynamic GameMaster Updates

RequestDynamicGameMasterUpdate
RequestGameMasterDataDynamicUpdate
.get_GmtDownloadPollPeriodMs

It looks like the Game master file will start updating itself dynamically on a set timer.  This means when they push updates to the Game master, they can force the update to your game while it’s running and you won’t have to restart the app.

Map Settings

.get_MapDisplaySettings

We could be able to customize our maps in the future, or it could be pulling data from the server…

Friends List Cache

AllowBackgroundCachingWhile
BackgroundFriendDetailsCachingService
GetFullFriendsListWithoutCacheRefresh

A cached friends list means quicker load times.

Shop Updates

LogBuySkuMenuClosed

They are going to start tracking when you click on something and then back out before buying it.

OpenStickerStore

Looks like we’re getting a dedicated Sticker store!

Pokedex Updates

unownIcon
shinyIcon

Some minor changes were made to the Pokédex screen were made in regards to how forms are shown, and how unown is shown.

New Flee Animation

fleeFxScale
fleeFxDurationMs

Instead of the normal red bar error when you click on a Pokémon that isn’t really there on the overworld map, the Pokémon will flee and you’ll see a puff of smoke very similar to the effect you see on the catch screen.

Conclusions and Speculations

I’m just going to start big.  Are we getting shiny Unown for Go Fest 2020?! I’m going out on a limb here, and probably reading way too much into this… but, we can dream right?!

There’s not much else to speculate about in this one, the details and items for Go Fest seem to be coming together.  Are you excited?  Do you have your ticket yet?

That’s all for now Trainers, stay safe out there.
