With an explosive value of 284, Haxorus wields the highest ATK stat of all non-Legendary and non-Mega Dragon types in Pokémon GO. Naturally, players waited with bated breath for its eventual Shadow release, and all that patience has finally paid off with the June 2026 Flying Taxi: Taken Over event debuting Shadow Haxorus!
Speaking of June 2026, the month already introduced a meta-defining Dragon Pokémon in the form of Baxcalibur, whose Mega Evolution is all set to dominate the Raids meta on its release.
With the quick succession of another powerful Dragon in the mix, it makes you wonder… just how impactful will Shadow Haxorus be?!
Let’s take a quick look at Shadow Haxorus’ stats and explore how it fares in the heavily-contested Dragon meta!

In case you missed it, 284 ATK is the same as Rayquaza’s! Anyway, with the 1.2x buff to Attack and 0.83 nerf to Defense for Shadow Pokémon, Shadow Haxorus winds up with a monstrous ~341 ATK and a low ~144 DEF. This is a true glass cannon.
Dragon Tail and Breaking Swipe are its go-to Dragon moves, just like Rayquaza, and comparisons immediately arise with Pseudo Legendaries like Shadow Salamence and Shadow Garchomp (note that Haxorus is not a Pseudo Legendary!), as well as Legendaries due to that insane ATK.
Is Shadow Haxorus the best non-Legendary? Let’s find out!
Taking the help of our GO Hub DPS Comparer Tool:

A single glance at the rankings reveals that Shadow Haxorus is now the strongest Shadow Dragon type in Pokémon GO! It completely dethrones all members of the famed Shadow Dragon trio of Palkia, Salamence, and Garchomp, and is just behind Eternatus and the top-tier Mega Evolutions.
For perspective, its damage numbers are exactly 1% stronger than Shadow Garchomp, though the latter is bulkier. However, regardless of lower bulk than Shadow Palkia and Shadow Salamence, Shadow Haxorus is preferred in Raids simply because Breaking Swipe is way more efficient than Draco Meteor. Even though Breaking Swipe has a DPSx DPE (61.36) that’s 2.93 lower than the DPSxDPE of Draco Meteor (64.29), the former has a lower cooldown (1.00s vs 3.50s), and is a 3-bar Charged Attck, making it more feasible to use against the Raid battle timer.
Shadow Haxorus trails Mega Garchomp’s DPS by only 1%, but the latter is extremely bulky and also offers its Mega Boosts, making it more valuable. The same perks will apply to Mega Garchomp Z, whose DPS may be 3.76% lower than Shadow Haxorus, but it’s bulkier.
Of course, you may argue that Mega Garchomp isn’t too far from Shadow Haxorus’ performance, but the non-Legendary that truly sets the tone is Mega Baxcalibur, whose numbers are significantly higher at 14.23% more damage. Ironically, if you use Ice Fang as Mega Baxcalibur’s Fast Attack instead (against a typical Dragon Raid Boss), its DPS is nearly 18% higher than Shadow Haxorus.
The accessibility plus ease of powering up for Mega Baxcalibur makes it the leading non-Legendary Dragon in Pokémon GO, but as a Shadow, Haxorus is top-notch.
Of course! Dragons are some of the toughest and most common Legendary Raid Bosses in Pokémon GO, and keeping solo and duo shenanigans aside, you would almost always need a team of six to beat the top Dragon types.
In fact, in a practical sense, having a level 50 Eternatus is almost unreal for most trainers at the moment, and even Zygarde is rare (the Mega availability parameters remain to be seen). Not to mention, Mega Baxcalibur is yet to debut. As such, behind the might of Mega Rayquaza (preferred Mega Evolution over Garchomp), Shadow Haxorus is your next best bet right now!
If you do manage to bag a high IV Shadow Haxorus with 15 ATK IV, definitely invest in it. It’s also worth an Elite Charged TM to unlock Breaking Swipe.
There’s another factor that hardly any dragon (except Mega Rayquaza) can contend wth Haxorus… just look at that shiny!
Imagine battling with a Shiny Shadow Haxorus in a Raid, PvP, or Team GO Rocket battle (even Mega Rayquaza can’t compare with that gorgeous Shadow effect on a cool black dragon).
All the best and happy hunting, trainers!
