Pokémon Spotlight Hour will feature a different Pokémon and a special bonus for one hour at 6:00 p.m. local time on Tuesday during the month of March. Roselia Spotlight Hour takes place on March 11th, 2025, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm local time, with a bonus of 2x XP for evolving Pokémon.

This Spotlight Hour is the second March 2025 Pokémon spotlight. Trainers who plan to participate should be prepared with a Mega Pokémon to maximise candy gains per ‘mon caught. Here’s everything you need to know!

Bonuses ⭐

  • XP icon You will get 2x XP for evolving Pokémon
  • Shiny icon The featured Pokémon and its evolution can be shiny in Pokémon GO

Note on XP Bonus

If you do not want to catch the featured Pokémon, you can make use of the 2x Evolution XP bonus by evolving any saved Scatterbug, or opening a Mystery Box or Coin Bag! This is a great opportunity to evolve any Pokémon for XP before clearing out your storage. Roselia is an interesting choice for an evolution XP bonus spotlight hour, because it needs a whopping 100 candy to evolve, and a Sinnoh Stone!

The old-school grinders will remember the days of saving Pidgey and other low cost evolutions for this sort of spotlight hour, and it can be a good way to grind XP with a lucky egg on.

Shiny Roselia

Shiny Roselia is easy to spot. Watch out for a colour change on the roses!

For all the collectors, there is a very subtle gender difference between male and female Roselia and Roserade. The female Roselia has a longer leaf down the front of her body. The female Roserade has a longer cape.

Mega Pokémon that boost Roselia

The following Pokémon will grant you extra bonuses when catching Roselia if they are Mega/Primal evolved. We highly recommend Mega Evolving a Pokémon during this event to get as much candy as possible!

A Note on Mega Catch Bonus

While a Pokémon is Mega-Evolved, additional XP and Candy is granted when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it, or for any raid boss caught. These do not stack with each other. Additionally, High and Max Level Mega-Evolved Pokémon grant an increased chance to obtain Candy XL when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it.

Is it Worth Evolving Roselia?

PVE

So many Grass and Poison-types have broken into the meta since Roserade’s debut, but even then, Roserade continues to be a reliable PvE attacker in both its typings! 👏👏

Even if you’re using stronger options, it’s always worth adding Roserade to your entourage. Max it out to level 50, you won’t regret it! 🌹

⚔️ Raids

Raids are truly a rosy picture for Roserade, as this Pokémon can pull double duty as either a Grass or Poison-type attacker. If you’re low on TMs, however, Roserade is preferred as a Poison-type attacker. ☣️

🛡️ Gyms

While Roserade has a good Attack stat, its Defense and Stamina are a bit disappointing. It’s best to keep it out of Gyms. 😬

PVP

This rose is spicy! 🥵 Roserade is honestly a mixed bag in PvP.

On one hand, its Fire and Poison-type moves help it deal with other Grass Pokémon, and even take out Fairy and Steel types. 😮

That’s an impressive résumé, but its low bulk plays spoilsport, preventing it from becoming a PvP mainstay. Still, it’s overall a strong pick that you won’t regret using! 🙂

🔵 Great League

Despite its fragility, Roserade’s formidable moveset of Bullet SeedWeather Ball, and Leaf Storm makes it a huge threat, capable of taking out some of the Great League’s best Pokémon! 🥳

Even when shields are down, it performs equally well. Beware of this rose’s thorns! 🌹

🟡 Ultra League

Roserade’s dominance takes a hit in the Ultra League, where stronger Grass and Poison-type Pokémon do better. Its inability to take damage is its Achilles heel. 🙁

🟣 Master League

Roserade makes quite a statement in the Master League, being able to beat most of this League’s top WaterFairy, and Ground-type Pokémon! 😳

It’s a spice pick with niche applications but something more useful than you can imagineDo try it out! 🌶️
