Mega Starmie Raid Guide

Sprite of Mega Starmie from Pokémon GO Mega Starmie

Mega Starmie is a Water and Psychic type Super Mega Raid boss. Best Mega Starmie raid counters include powerful Bug, Dark, Electric, Ghost, and Grass types, with a mixed range of different counters available to help you defeat it.

The Mega Raid Boss is always catchable in its base form, so the CP ranges are for a regular Starmie. Starmie can be caught with the following CP values:

  • From 1404 CP to 1476 CP, with no weather boost
  • From 1756 CP to 1846 CP with Rainy or Windy weather boost

Super Mega Starmie Raids require a minimum of 7 Trainers to defeat them, and each Trainer will need to have a Mega Pokémon in their team. This guide will tell you how to beat this long-legged Mega, as well as its optimal stats, moves, and CP range.

Mega Starmie Counters Guide

Mega Starmie is a Water and Psychic type, which makes it weak to many popular Ghost, Dark and Grass Pokémon, which dominate the counters table. Necrozma, Darkrai, and strong Shadow Pokémon like Shadow Mewtwo, Sceptile, Tyranitar (if Starmie has no Water charge move) are just some of the picks you can bring.

For Mega Pokémon, we recommend the strongest one you have, but any Mega will suffice to break a Shield. Mega Sceptile is great, your recently acquired Mega Mewtwo Y and Mega Chesnaught are great options as well.

Primal Pokémon cannot be used to break shields in Super Mega Raids, so we do not recommend using them as counters. This specifically means do not bring a Primal Groudon or Primal Kyogre to these Raids.

Shiny Mega Starmie

Like all Mega Raid Bosses, you can catch the shiny version of Starmie from a Raid. The odds to get a shiny Starmie are 1 in 10 Raids. Here are the sprites for normal Starmie and Mega Starmie.

About Super Mega Raids

super mega raid

During Super Mega Raids the Mega Pokémon can become enraged, and even use shields that dramatically reduce the amount of damage they take. You’ll have to work together to take down these shields, but each Trainer can only take down one shield.

  • Once the Mega Pokémon boss activates a shield, a Mega Pokémon from your Raid team will be automatically sent into the battle.
  • Your next attack by your Mega Pokémon will be significantly more powerful than usual, allowing you to break down the boss’s shield!

Once you and your fellow Trainers have broken enough shields, the Raid Boss will return to its normal state, and you will be able to do normal damage again.

All the best, Trainers!
