Shiny Spheal

Shiny Spheal has a distinctive difference, its grey gloves and bib turn into a salmon pink colour! Good luck with your shiny hunting, trainers!

Regular Shiny
Spheal Spheal is a chubby, spherical, seal-like Pokémon with a short, flat tail. Its plushy fur is light blue with several white spots of various sizes on its back. This covering of fluffy fur, combined with the layer of blubber underneath, retains heat and protects Spheal from the cold. It has black, circular eyes; small tusks protruding from its upper jaw; and small, rounded ears. Its stubby flippers and its underside are both beige. Shiny Spheal has a purple body rather than blue, with a yellow-beige bellly.
Sealeo Sealeo is a bright-blue, pinniped Pokémon. Its throat and chest are beige with speckling around the edges. There are two short tusks protruding from its upper jaw, and it has dark brown, oval eyes. It has a powerful pair of front flippers, which are able to crush ice. Additionally, it has a short, flipper-like tail. On the sides of its blunt muzzle are thick, white whiskers. Sealeo's white whiskers are described as being super sensitive. Shiny Sealeo has a purple body rather than blue, with a yellow-beige bellly.
Walrein Walrein is a large, walrus-like Pokémon with a layer of blubber under its skin. It is primarily blue, with thin, white rings around its neck and lines on its fan-like tail-fin. There are two long, ivory tusks in its upper jaw. It has a round snout and yellow eyes, and large tufts of white fur about its face and neck. Its four short legs have long flippers instead of feet. Shiny Walrein has a purple body, nose and eyes.

Mega Pokémon that boost Spheal

The following Pokémon will grant you extra bonuses when catching Spheal if they are Mega/Primal evolved.

A Note on Mega Catch Bonus

While a Pokémon is Mega-Evolved, additional XP and Candy is granted when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it, or for any raid boss caught. These do not stack with each other. Additionally, High and Max Level Mega-Evolved Pokémon grant an increased chance to obtain Candy XL when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it.

Is it worth evolving Spheal?

PVP

🔵 Great League

Walrein has its fortunes changed with the inclusion of two powerful Ice-type moves to its arsenal during its Community Day: Frost Breath and Icicle Spear. This duo, combined with Earthquake, gives Walrein nearly unresisted coverage in PvP. 👀

This toolkit helps Walrein decimate the Great League’s premier Grass, Flying, Dragon, and Ground types, Water types like Azumarill, Shadow Feraligatr, and Dusclops, Wigglytuff, and Alolan Sandslash. ❄️ Walrein’s weak defensive profile gets to it but overall, this is a solid Pokémon to spread terror in the Great League. ☠️

🟡 Ultra League

Walrein is intimidating in the Ultra League where this beast uses its powerful moves to slay Dragons like Shadow Dragonite, Zygarde Complete, Giratina Altered, and Guzzlord, Shadow Drapion, Typhlosion, Feraligatr, Gliscor, Drifblim, Mandibuzz, and Galarian Weezing. Even in losing matchups, it does quite a lot of damage and/or baits shields. 👌

While it may not directly get too many wins, it always plays a major role in contributing towards victories. 👏

🟣 Master League

Walrein can beat Dragon, Ground, and Flying types but with the existence of Black and White Kyurem, Kyogre, and Mamoswine… all who get the job done more efficiently. That said, Walrein is still a threat and can cripple opponents even when it loses. So don’t dismiss it entirely but at the same time, don’t be overly reliant on it. 🙂

💎 The best moves for Walrein in PvP are Powder Snow, Icicle Spear and Earthquake.

PVE

Walrein is a bulky, budget pick for an Ice-type attacker and a Dex filler for those with strong Ice types in their collection. ❄️

Sure, use it in lower tier Raids for the spice but there’s no point using Elite TMs for its legacy moves (Frost Breath and Icicle Spear) as far as PvE goes. 🫤

⚔️ Raids

Walrein’s impressive bulk gives it a nice TDO so maybe use it in 1- and 3-Star Raids. There are so many better Ice-type Pokémon for more challenging Raids.

🛡️ Gyms

A decent Gym defender based on stats alone but keep in mind that being an Ice/Water-type Pokémon, it’s weak to the typical Fighting-type Gym attackers.

💎 The best moves for Walrein in PvE are Frost Breath and Icicle Spear.
