The details of the next Wayfarer Challenge have been announced! The hosts for the next Niantic Wayfarer Challenge are shared across 3 countries of Italy, France, and Germany! There was recently a new poll that allowed voters to choose the hosts between “Italy, France, Germany” and “South Korea, Taiwan, Philippines”. Italy, France, and Germany won the poll with a majority of 53% of votes!
What is a Niantic Wayfarer Challenge?
Firstly, Niantic Wayfarer enables high-level players of Pokémon GO and Ingress to nominate new ‘Wayspots’, known as PokeStops or Portals in their respective games. These Wayspots can then be reviewed by other high-level players, and if they fit the criteria they are added to the Niantic Lightship map and then if they fall within the inclusion rules of Pokémon GO or Ingress, they are added to the gameboard.
Niantic Wayfarer Challenges encourage players from around the globe to log in and do reviews of the nominations from host countries to strengthen the in-game experiences of those communities. The challenges run over one to two weeks and set a target goal of resolved Wayspots nominations. They reward participating trainers with items in-game depending on how many Wayspots nominations are successfully resolved, both individually and collectively, during the challenge period.
Niantic Wayfarer makes new challenges every few months, and this October Italy, France, and Germany are in the spotlight with the focus on adding as many new Wayspots as possible and creating the best experience possible for players in those countries.

Wayspot Resolution Goals and Rewards
Reward Eligibility Requirements
- Level 37+ in Pokémon GO to receive the Pokémon GO rewards
- Level 10+ in Ingress to receive the Ingress rewards
- You must also have passed the Wayfarer quiz.
- You must have reviewed at least 50 Wayspot nominations from the challenge countries (Italy, France, and Germany) during the challenge dates
NOTE: Only 1 set of Rewards will be distributed, so if participants reach the 90k tier only the rewards from that tier will be awarded.

If you are eligible but have not used Wayfarer before, you can get ready by creating a Wayfarer account linked to your Pokémon GO or Ingress profiles.
