We recently wrote about how Niantic accidentally released Black and White Kyurem through GO Battle League rewards, and we promised to circle back on this story as soon as we have more information.
Today, Niantic Support tweeted that both Pokémon will be removed from players’ accounts, and that affected Trainers will receive in-game compensation:
Trainers, Black Kyurem and White Kyurem appeared as a GO Battle League encounter reward due to a misconfiguration and will be removed. We will be reaching out to the Trainers who were recently affected by this and provide in-game compensation as a token of our apology.

This is the in-game compensation that affected Trainers are getting for these Pokémon getting removed from their accounts:
-
250× Kyurem Candy
-
5× Star Piece
-
5× Lucky Egg
-
250000× Stardust
We previously wrote that we do not know if Niantic will remove these Pokémon, as this really hasn’t been a common practice before, and we are actually surprised that Niantic did remove them.
Apparently, Black Kyurem and White Kyurem are important enough to keep them off the table for a while, and it probably makes sense for Niantic to pull the bandaid rather than supporting them in the long run.
As of now, the only reminders of these Pokémon that we have are these catch images, and the odd tweet here and there:
