Pokémon Presents announced for August 8th: what to expect

There are Pokémon news on the horizon!

The Pokémon Company International has announced a new Pokémon Presents for Tuesday, August 8th, at 6:30 a.m. PDT. The presentation promises 35 minutes of news and updates, and it will be live on Pokémon’s Youtube channel.

35 minutes of new information is a lot, so what does it mean, what can we expect? On the last Pokémon Presents, on Pokémon Day, we had the reveal of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet DLCs: “The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero”, and we came to know more about Pokémon Sleep.

Is it time for the announcement of new games? The fan base already established a set of expectations on what could be shared, so stick with us while we get neck deep into speculation! Let’s go!

The Pokémon Presents announcement

The announcement video is only a 15-second clip, but the Pokémon Company may have dropped a few tips on what could be revealed next Tuesday.

At 0:02 and 0:10, a weird glitch shows us two purple neon “M”, followed by the Presents logo, “Pokémon Presents 8.8.2023,” in the same neon purple. The logo quickly returns to normal. And that’s pretty much it. That’s the clip.

This could mean nothing, but it could be a hint of what’s coming next week.

Let’s speculate together

Over the last weeks, a lot of rumours about a new title on the Legends series has been surfing around the web. And something that has been on the fans’s wishlist for a long time is the return to Unova.

Unova, as you might know, is based on New York City. And New York City is known as “the city that never sleeps“. When we think about NYC, we picture lots of neon signs, billboards and lots and lots of light and colour.

So, one of the things fans are expecting is the announcement of a “Legends Kyurem” or “Black & White 3” or even the remakes of the 5th gen.

What is intriguing are those random purple “M” letters. People on X (Twitter) are questioning if could they be related to Mega Mewtwo (recently added to Pokémon Unite), teasing the possible returing of Mega Pokémon on the DLCs or on a future game.

On X too, some users are connecting the neon sign to the Detective Pikachu movie logo. But it is a bit streched that they will give us the announcement of a new movie, right?

Last but not the least, the port of the first gen games to Nintendo Switch Online. Fans want to travel through Kanto on Nintendo Switch for a long time. And The Pokémon Company International could actually surprise all of us with that. Pokémon Stadium and Pokémon Snap are already available through Nintendo Switch Online, and Pokémon Red and Green could be joining the roster soon.

What actually could be shown

The first part of the DLC “The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero”, “The Teal Mask”, is expected to drop somewhere in the fall. So we are probably going to get the official release date of “The Teal Mask” and “The Indigo Disk”. On top of that, we definitely can expect new images of the DLC.

Detective Pikachu Returns was announced on the last Nintendo Direct and we will probably get some news about this new adventurous game.

As usual, we’ll also have information about the spin-off games, like Pokémon Unite, Pokémon Masters EX, Pokémon Café Remix and probably Pokémon Sleep.

With the release of Mega Rayquaza and Diancie this weekend in London and Osaka, we, as has been usual, can also get some news on the GO field. Expect full coverage of that here on Pokémon GO Hub.
