This Spotlight Hour is the final May 2025 Pokémon spotlight, and it is especially interesting as Golett can be shiny!

Trainers who plan to participate should be prepared with a Mega Pokémon to maximise candy gains per Pokémon caught. Here’s everything you need to know!

Golett Spotlight Hour

Bonuses

  • Stardust icon You will get 2x Stardust for catching Pokémon
  • Shiny icon Shiny Golett and its evolution is available in Pokémon GO

Note on Stardust Bonus

Golett is unfortunately not one of the rare Pokémon that give extra Stardust on catch, so there is the usual base rate of 100 Stardust per catch which increases with weather-boost and a Star Piece.

Here’s how much Stardust you can get during Golett Spotlight Hour in May 2025, thanks to the 2x Stardust bonus:

Type of catch Stardust
Regular catch 200
Weather boosted catch 250
Regular catch with Star Piece 300
Weather boosted catch with Star Piece 375

The best possible scenario you can have is to catch a weather boosted ‘mon with an active Star Piece. As Golett is a dual GroundGhost-type they are boosted by Sunny and Fog weather.

To maximise Stardust caught you’ll likely want to use Great Balls to ensure the catch and use a quick catch technique. Otherwise, you could be spending too much time attempting to catch, rather than just catching.

We believe that the baseline for calculating potential Stardust during this hour should be 60 ‘mon. You should be able to get 60 Pokémon during one hour, regardless of if you are using the Fast catch trick, or just catching slowly.

Here’s how much Stardust you should be able to earn during the Spotlight Hour:

Star Piece active Weather is Sunny or Fog Stardust
❌ No ❌ No 12,000
❌ No  ✅ Yes 15,000
✅ Yes ❌ No 18,000
✅ Yes ✅ Yes 22,500
  • 12,000 Stardust is your minimal Stardust goal. This means you caught 60 Pokémon, but there was no weather boost and you did not activate a Star Piece.
  • 15,000 Stardust is your minimal goal if the in-game weather is Sunny or Fog.
  • 18,000 Stardust is the minimal amount you are looking for with a Star Piece activated. This should be easy to get if you activate two Star Pieces, regardless of in-game Weather. Star Piece increases your Stardust gain by 50%, which is an additional 3,000 Stardust over the baseline.
  • and finally… 22,500 Stardust is the amount of Stardust you will get if you catch 60 Pokémon, with a Star Piece active, during Sunny or Fog weather.

The only downside of this event is that Golett is relatively difficult to catch, and you will probably want to use Great Balls or Ultra Balls during the event. Otherwise, you could be spending too much time attempting to catch, rather than just catching.

Shiny Golett

Shiny Golett is pretty subtle, with its yellow accents turning green and its body colour becoming slightly desaturated.

  Regular Shiny
Golett Golett is a bipedal Pokémon said to have been constructed from clay in the ancient past to protect an ancient and mysterious civilization of people and Pokémon. Its body is primarily covered by two different shades of blue. Its head features two bewitching, yellow eyes and a stub-like cyan-colored crest on top. Two pairs of crisscrossing brown bands extend around its spherical body meeting at a blue square with a yellow swirl in the center. Two large stone-like blocks act as its feet and two more such blocks adorn its "forearms"; each arm ends in a dark blue-colored, crude three-fingered hand. Golurk Golurk is a bipedal automaton Pokémon resembling a suit of armor. It is mainly teal in color with yellow swirls on its shoulders and hands. It has a small head compared to its body, and pale yellow eyes, one of which turns to its left at the bottom, unlike Golett's eye, which turns right. There is a crack across the chest of the armor, which is patched diagonally with a brown seal resembling a belt. It has a crystal-like formation on each shoulder, and there are large bangles on its wrists and ankles. It has a Roman armor-like "skirt" and flat feet beneath. Mega Pokémon that boost Golett

The following Pokémon will grant you extra bonuses when catching Golett if they are Mega/Primal evolved:

A Note on Mega Catch Bonus

While a Pokémon is Mega-Evolved, additional XP and Candy is granted when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it, or for any raid boss caught. These do not stack with each other. Additionally, High and Max Level Mega-Evolved Pokémon grant an increased chance to obtain Candy XL when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it.

Is it worth evolving Golett?

PvE

Golurk has an ATK of only 222, but thanks to its phenomenal moveset of Mud-Slap and Earth Power, it is actually a pretty good Ground-type attacker, one you can absolutely use! 😄

As a Ghost-type attacker, it is quite underwhelming, so better to keep this Pokémon grounded. 😉

💎 Golurk’s best moveset for PvE is Mud-Slap and Earth Power.

⚔️ Raids

While there are plenty of stronger Ground-type optionsGolurk is still usable. When rejoining lobbies against Legendary Raid Bosses weak to Ground-type moves, don’t hesitate opting for Golurk. ✅

🛡️ Gyms

Golurk isn’t too bulky, but it resists many Pokémon types, including the typically used Fighting-type Gym attackers. Not to mention, it looks pretty cool! 👀

PvP

Golurk’s defining traits are its excellent moveset that gives it unresisted coverage and its Ground/Ghost typing, which helps it resist Electric, Fighting, Normal, Poison, Bug, and Rock-type damage. 🙂

STAB Fast Moves Mud-Slap and Astonish are literally clones of each other in PvP, having the same 4 DPT, 3.33 EPT, and 1.50s cooldown values. You can go with either, but Mud-Slap is preferred for better coverage as the Fast Move is combined with Shadow Punch and Dynamic Punch.

This establishes Golurk as a massive threat in the Great and Ultra Leagues, but remember that since it isn’t too bulkyshield investment is desired. ‼️

💎 Golurk’s best moveset for PvP is Mud-Slap/Astonish, Shadow Punch, and Dynamic Punch.

🔵 Great League

Golurk is deadly in the Great League, using its high-damage Fast Move and cheap Shadow Punch to trouble opponents like Annihilape, Primeape, Carbink, Clodsire, Charjabug, Dewgong, and Gastrodon. 👀

As mentioned, it falls off when shields are down, so better use it as a lead or safe switch-in to tank resisted hits. A very handy Pokémon which, in the right hands, is the match-winner. 💯

🟡 Ultra League

Astonish Golurk excels in the (2-2) shield scenario, beating Cobalion, Registeel, Annihilape, Skeledirge, Cresselia, Ampharos, Talonflame, Virizion, Venusaur, Tentacruel, Typhlosion, Corviknight, Poliwrath, and Giratina Altered. Under (1-1), it loses to Giratina Altered and Venusaur but gains Primeape and Shadow Dragonite. 😳

However, it drops many core wins under (0-0). A potent sweeper under shieldsGolurk is a great lead and switch-in (just like in Great League). Be wary when shields are out. 💁

🟣 Master League

Golurk is absolutely terrible in the Master League. Keep it for the lower Leagues please. 😅
