Cresselia is a Tier 5 Legendary Raid Boss in Pokemon GO (30849 Combat Power). Best Cresselia counters are strong Ghost and Dark type users like Gengar, Mewtwo, Tyranitar, but also strong Bug types like Scizor and Pinsir. Cresselia is weak to Bug, Dark and Ghost moves. Cresselia is available in Pokemon GO from November 20 to December 18 2018 (1:00 PM PST).

Cresselia can have the following CP values when caught in the post-raid capture encounter:

  • 1555 – 1633 CP in normal weather conditions
  • 1944 – 2041 CP  in Windy weather

Cresselia could theoretically be duoed by extremely lucky, level 40 teams of SC Gengars with Fog weather and best friend boosts. Realistically 3-5 high level players can tackle a Cresselia with proper counters, and 6-20 lower level players can handle one.

Supreme Cresselia raid counters
MewtwoMewtwo Confusion Psychic Shadow Ball Ghost
Our all-time favorite is back with a vengeance, as Mewtwo reigns supreme in Cresselia match ups. Faster than a Tyranitar, but a lot more potion conservative than a Gengar, Mewtwo is simply the perfect mix of DPS and TDO in Cresselia raids.
TyranitarTyranitar Bite Dark Crunch Dark
Tyranitar is a beast versus every Psychic Pokemon, Cresselia included. Your sturdy companion will bite through Cresselia with ease, saving potions and performing equally well as a SB Mewtwo. What a champ!
GengarGengar Shadow Claw/Lick Ghost Shadow Ball Ghost
Gengar is the fastest and highest DPS Cresselia counter, but it is incredibly fragile and will faint more than twice the number of times either Mewtwo or Tyranitar faint. On the other hand, with almost 120 seconds less in Time To Win, Gengar will be a favorite option for players who want to do the raid as quickly as possibly.
Excellent Cresselia raid counters
ScizorScizor Fury Cutter Bug X Scissor Bug
Scizor can definitely hold it’s versus Cresselia, regardless of the move set you face it against.
HoundoomHoundoom Snarl Dark Foul Play Dark
Your demon dog raises once more to defeat a pesky Psychic types, a mere mortal that stands before him. Houndoom is a solid option, worse than a Tyranitar, but more reliable than a Weavile.
PinsirPinsir Fury Cutter Bug X Scissor Bug
It’s a worse Scizor, which means it’s good, but not that good.
WeavileWeavile Feint Attack Dark Foul Play Dark
Weavile is another glass cannon option versus Cresselia, and although strictly worse than Tyranitar, it performs well against most move sets.

Cresselia moves analysis

Fast Charge
  • Psycho Cut Psychic
  • Confusion Psychic
  • Futuresight Psychic
  • Moonblast Fairy
  • Aurora Beam Ice
  • Futuresight is a scary move, but not against Dark types. Tyranitar performs marvelously against Cresselia’s Futuresight, shedding off its attacks with ease. A respectable move, completely destroys Gengar.
  • Moonblast is a strong Fairy type move that deals increased damage to Tyranitar, but nothing ground breaking, but still hard hitting
  • Aurora Beam can be confusing, but fear not, as it doesn’t deal increased damage to Mewtwo, Tyranitar, Gengar, Scizor nor Weavile. One of, if not the, easiest move set to fight against.

Weather Effects

Cresselia is boosted by Windy weather, while being more vulnerable in Fog and Rainy weather.
