Whenever the shadow variant of a Pokémon listed below is available in the game, it is strongly recommended to use it over its regular/purified counterpart. However, since Shadow Pokémon are extremely expensive to power up and require specific events to TM away Frustration, they will NOT be listed as raid counters in this article.

Wailmer doesn’t have many weaknesses, but if you don’t have ANY of the Pokémon listed above powered up, you can always use:

  • Generalist” Pokémon such as Psycho Cut + Psystrike* Mewtwo
  • Eevolutions capable of dealing super effective damage
  • Other heavy-hitting megas

But please, try to use the Pokémon listed above if possible.

Unfortunately, Wailmer and Wailord are just a couple of Pokédex entries in Pokémon GO. Some trainers have tried running Wailord as a spice pick in GBL without much success, mainly due to its terrible moveset and lack of low-energy charge moves.

Wailord does have a great stamina stat, which could make it a *decent* gym defender. However, it just doesn’t have the offensive power nor the bulk needed to stand out on that front either. Well, I guess you could at least put it in a gym for the memes, right?

We hope you found this raid guide useful, happy hunting!
