Compensation for Shiny Therian Torme Tornadus Issue Announced

Posted in

Trainers,  back on 10th January 2024, Therian Forme Tornadus arrived back into raids, with new move Bleakwind Storm, and with the shiny announced as available.

Sadly however, it seems that Niantic forgot to flick that shiny switch, and after the APAC region raid hour players were widely reporting that no one had encountered a shiny. Japanese twitter account pokemongo_db asked trainers to report their findings, and with over 1000 verified reports, it became clear that the shiny was not enabled.

After many trainers contacted Niantic the Japanese help account became the first to acknowledge the issue on Wednesday, but the shiny did not appear to be switched on for several hours after the issue was recognised.

The shiny was then enabled, and Niantic announced that compensation would be coming for affected trainers, but after the announcement came on social media today, those affected are not happy.

Instead of returning all of the raid passes that trainers used, a free box containing three premium battle passes, and one remote raid pass will be in the shop.

Many trainers used their daily allowance of remote raid passes to partake in the APAC raid hours, and are only getting one remote raid pass back. Understandably trainers affected are not happy as remotes raid passes are a lot more expensive than the premium battle passes are.

It’s also worth noting that the official communication from Niantic states that it is Therian Forme Thundurus compensation instead of Tornadus….

While many are deeming the compensation inadequate, it is still worth claiming to ensure you don’t miss out on it. You have until February 28 2025 to claim it, so it isn’t going to be leaving the shop anytime soon, but we’d still recommend claiming sooner rather than later just in case that is a typo on the year, like the typo on the raid boss.
