Pokemon GO Blaziken (max CP 2631) evolves from a Pokemon GO Combusken and a Pokemon GO Torchic. Its best moveset is Counter with Focus Blast. Torchic is a Generation 3 starter Pokemon.
Blaziken has interesting dual fire and fighting typing which makes him take neutral damage from fairy moves (bane of many previously introduced Fighting types). However, as a Fire type, Blaziken is outclassed by several older and new Pokemon families.
Blaziken has low Defense (141) and mediocre Stamina (160), which makes you depend on dodge to survive a battle. In other words, using Blaziken requires snappy dodges and fast counter attacks.

Blaziken in the Pokemon GO meta game
Blaziken is a strong addition in Gen III, especially in Blissey match ups. Although it is easily outclassed by Moltres, Entei and Flareon as a Fire type in terms of DPS, as a fighting type, it has a particular niche where it outclasses both Machamp and Hariyama: Blissey encounters!
Blaziken takes neutral damage from Fairy type moves, which means it can sustain itself longer and deal more damage. However, it is still required to dodge a lot of charged moves in order to have a successful fight.
P.S. At the beginning of Gen III, Blaziken had Stone Edge instead of Focus Blast, which made no sense at all and made Blaziken the weakest Gen III starter evolution. We’re very happy to see this has been rectified.
Blaziken best moves and move sets in Pokémon Go
Best Moveset: Counter / Focus Blast or Fire Spin / Overheat
Blaziken started Generation III with Stone Edge instead of Focus Blast, which made him a rather weak option to use in comparison to other Gen 3 species. On day two of Generation III, the moveset gods smiled and Blaziken was given Focus Blast.
Similar to Swampert, Blaziken can work in multiple builds, but we recommend going for Counter / Focus Blast if you’re building a Normal type / Blissey counter. Blaziken with Focus Blast is arguably the strongest Blissey counter due to not receiving increased damage from fairy attacks.
Blaziken has access to the following moves:
- Counter fighting (quick)
- Fire Spin fire (quick)
- Overheat fire (charged, 1 bar)
- Brave Bird (charged, 1 bar)
- Focus Blast (charged, 1 bar)
- Stone Edge rock (legacy, charged, 1 bar)
