2024 Pokémon North America International Championships: Timed Research and more!

The Pokémon North America International Championships (NAIC) are the third and final International Championships event of the 2024 Championship Series season. This event is the final opportunity for competitors to earn Championship Points toward their World Championships invitation, and it features exciting competitions for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet games (VGC), Pokémon GO, and Pokémon UNITE.

This season’s NAIC event will take place at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, from June 7 to June 9, 2024. It will award high amounts of Championship Points and more than $500,000 USD in prizes, spread across the Pokémon TCG, Pokémon VGC, Pokémon GO, and Pokémon UNITE competitions.

Date & Time

Some tournaments begin on Friday, June 7, and others on Saturday, June 8. Please visit each competition’s page for a complete schedule.

Badges for this event can be picked up on-site at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in the Hall H-J Lobby (enter via Hall I-1) or at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) at the Info Desk on Level 1, between doors 3 and 4. All attendees are highly encouraged to pick up their badges on Wednesday, June 5, or Thursday, June 6.

Pokémon GO Information Event icon

Competitors at the 2024 Pokémon GO North America International Championships will be competing for Championship Points and prizes. All participants will receive 5 Play! Points and a Pokémon International Championships promo card (while supplies last) just for playing! Play will begin on June 7 and conclude on June 9.

Competitors must comply with the Tournament Rules.

Tournament Format and Structure

Competitors will compete in groups in double-elimination brackets using the Great League format in Pokémon GO. The top competitors from each group will advance to the Finals bracket. Tournament pairings will be posted to Challonge. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with Challonge prior to the event.

Matches are best of three, except for the Winners Finals, Losers Finals, and Grand Finals, which are best of five.

18 years of age and older:

Under 18 years of age:

Awards of $5,000 or more: choice of scholarship or Pokémon Visa® prepaid card

Prizes are based on attendance. Unless otherwise specified, all prizes are paid in US dollars and subject to applicable tax withholding. Prize winners should consult a qualified tax professional regarding their tax obligations.

Follow the streams on Twitch or the Pokémon social channels for passwords that will let you receive a special Pokémon in your Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game, and a Pokémon card in Pokémon TCG Live, and tune in to the 2024 Pokémon North America International Championships live stream on Twitch.tv/Pokemon with Twitch Drops enabled to score some unique Timed Research in Pokémon GO that will award you with an encounter with Altaria.

MEweedle dominated the 2024 Pokémon GO Europe International Championships with Altaria—and if you tune in to the 2024 NAIC stream, you’ll be able to take on the GO Battle League with your own! Enable Twitch Drops on your Twitch account and watch the stream to receive unique Timed Research in Pokémon GO that will award you with an encounter with Altaria.

How To Get The Pokémon GO Limited Research

Confused as to how to get the Special Limited Time Research for Pokémon GO? Use the following steps:

  • Join the stream between June 7 to June 9 on Twitch here and here.
  • On the social channel next to the stream a pop-up should appear mentioning the Twitch drops.
  • Click on “Details” on the pop-up and a new page should open showing you how long you have to watch to claim the rewards.
  • You’ll need to have your Pokémon Trainer Club account connected both to Twitch and Pokémon GO. 
  • The ability to connect the PTC account to Twitch should be available on the rewards page that you enter through the social channel pop-up. 
  • As for Pokémon GO, the option to add your PTC account should be under Settings->Account->Below Linked Accounts. There should be a “Link” button there, where you can login to your PTC account on Pokémon GO.
  • Finally, after watching the stream for the required amount of time a claim button should appear on the Twitch rewards page.
  • It should be smooth sailing from there. Enjoy your rewards!

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet: Nils Dunlop’s Porygon2 Pokémon Encounter icon

Nils Dunlop was able to secure his victory in the Masters Division of this year’s Europe International Championships (EUIC) with the help of Porygon2—and now you can have it join your team! Keep an eye on the official 2024 NAIC stream or our social channels for a password you can use in the Mystery Gift feature of your Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game to receive Nils Dunlop’s Porygon2. This special Porygon2 comes with the same moves and stats as Nils’s, so give it a try on your own competitive team!

This password can be used only once per save data. It takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours of play time before you are able to access the Mystery Gift feature, where you can input the password. This password will expire on June 10, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. PDT.
