Gigantamax Butterfree Max Battle Day takes place on Sunday August 3, 2:00 p.m to 5:00 p.m. local time! During the event, all Power Spots will host Gigantamax Battles, and Power Spots will refresh more frequently. If you’re lucky, you may encounter a Shiny Butterfree capable of Gigantamaxing!

Additional exploring bonuses

The following bonuses will be active on August 3, 2025, from 12:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
local time. For these bonuses to apply, Trainers must first collect all Max Particles available in the Nearby menu.

Trainers can collect Max Particles via the Nearby menu each day by exploring. Adventure Sync can help make sure your distance counts! Keep an eye on the Nearby menu for the icon that shows when Max Particles are ready to collect.

Rewards for defeating Gigantamax Butterfree

A major reason why to play during the Gigantamax Gigantamax Max Battle Day is because the rewards for defeating G-Max bosses are incredible. 

With a Star Piece and Lucky Egg, each successful G-Max Battle rewards 37500 Stardust and 50,000 XP. For Trainers who purchased the event Ticket, this amount is increased to 100,000 XP, and can be even doubled to 200,000 XP for 200 Poké Coins.

Timed Research

There will be Timed Research available leading into the event from July 28 at 6:00 a.m. to August 3 at 5:00 p.m local time. Complete the Timed Research to encounter a Dynamax Pokémon that is a strong contender for battles against Gigantamax Butterfree! These tasks will also award Candy and Max Particles to help power up your team.

The Gigantamax Butterfree Max Battle Day Ultra Ticket Box will be available for US$4.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency) and includes an event ticket and a bonus Max Particle Pack at no additional cost.

Max Mushrooms

The Max Mushroom is an item that temporarily amplifies the Fast Attacks, Charged Attacks, and Max Move attacks of your Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon in Max Battles. While active in a Max Battle, your attacks will do double damage until the item timer runs out. Using multiple Max Mushrooms consecutively will lengthen the duration of the effect, but it will not increase the damage multiplier.

Remember to check your Item Bag while in a Max Battle lobby and use any Max Mushrooms you’ve acquired. You can also see whether other Trainers in the lobby have Max Mushrooms active.
