Mega Rayquaza Raid Day (October 2025)

Mega Rayquaza descends from the skies in Pokémon GO during a special Raid Day event on Saturday, October 18th, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM local time. Trainers can look forward to an increased chance to encounter shiny Rayquaza, up to five additional free Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs, and a temporarily increased Remote Raid Pass limit.

Mega Rayquaza returns to Mega Raids during the event!

The best counters for Mega Rayquaza will be your top Ice types, as it has a 2x weakness to Ice, along with weakness to Fairy Rock and Dragon types. Fairy and Rock type Pokémon will also have the benefit of resisting most of Mega Rayquaza’s attacks.

Rayquaza can be caught with the following Combat Power after being defeated in Raids:

  • 2102 – 2191 CP no weather boost
  • 2627 – 2739 CP boosted by Windy weather boost

Regular and Shiny Comparison

Like all Mega Raid Bosses, you can catch the shiny version of Rayquaza from a raid, if you are lucky! It is a an absolutely top tier black shiny.

Meteorite icon Use a Meteorite to teach Rayquaza Dragon Ascent

In order to get Mega Rayquaza you will not only need 400 Mega Energy, but also it’s signature move Dragon Ascent which will only be obtained through use of a Meteorite. Dragon Ascent can only be learned by using Meteorites.

Please note that Timed Research expires. The tasks associated with Timed Research must be completed and their rewards must be claimed before the Timed Research ends.

A Raid Day ticket is available for US$4.99 (or equivalent in your local currency), granting the following bonuses:

  • Raid Pass icon Eight additional Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs (for a daily total of 14)
  • Candy icon Increased chance to get Rare Candy XL from raids for Trainers level 31 and up
  • XP icon 50% more XP from Raid Battles

  • Meteorite icon Trainers who purchase the ticket will also receive additional Timed Research during the event! Complete the research tasks to earn a Meteorite.

These bonuses will be effective on Saturday, October 18th, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. Please note that this ticket will only be available in the in-game shop until October 18th, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. local time.
