Pokémon GO Halloween 2021 Event Guide (Pokémon GO Event)

Pokémon GO Halloween 2021 (also known as Halloween Mischief) is a special two-part event that starts on October 15, 2021. Spooky shenanigans return during the Pokémon GO Halloween Mischief event! This time, there’ll be double the trouble and fun with a two-part event.

The Pokémon GO Halloween Mischief event is split into two parts, with additional bonuses running throughout the entire event.

Everything in this section will last throughout the entire event, from October 15 to October 31st.

The Season of Mischief Story Continues

A new part of the Season-long Special Research will unlock during each part of the Pokémon GO Halloween Mischief event. The story behind the Season of Mischief continues, with more being unveiled in the Misunderstood Mischief Research Tasks and Rewards.

Hoopa

If you complete this Season’s Special Research story, you’ll gain access to a special event at the end of the Season that might have something to do with Hoopa!

With more Psychic-, Ghost-, and Dark-type Pokémon appearing in the wild—along with new ones being discovered for the first time ever in Pokémon GO—this is the perfect opportunity to learn more about the Mischief Pokémon!

Halloween Cup

The Halloween Cup will be available in the GO Battle League! Check out the Season 9 GO Battle League blog for details on this and other cup’s rules.

Pokémon must be at or below 1,500 CP to enter.
Only Poison, Bug, Ghost, Dark, and Fairy type Pokémon are permitted.

Special and Timed Research

A Special Research story — What Lies beneath the Mask? — will be available! Ghost-type Pokémon are appearing more often than usual, and Professor Willow has tasked you with learning more about them.

Yamask

Notably, Yamask has started appearing in the wild, prompting his interest in learning more about Ghost-type Pokémon related to masks. What can we learn about these Pokémon—and what can we learn about ourselves in the process?

Timed Research will be available with tasks focused on participating in the Halloween Cup in the GO Battle League.

If you’re lucky, you may encounter a Shiny version of each of these Pokémon. You can also encounter Halloween Mischief Drifblim in GO Battle League reward encounters.

Pokémon GO Halloween Mischief Part 1: Creepy Companions

The first part of Pokémon GO Halloween this year is themed around creepy companions: Psychic– and Poison-, type Pokémon that can’t wait to be encountered and befriended, as well as other friendly, creepy Pokémon.

Galarian Slowking, the Hexpert Pokémon, will make its Pokémon GO debut, and Shiny Spinarak will be appearing for the first time in Pokémon GO, too!

Season of Mischief Special Research Story Unlock

The next part of the Season of Mischief Special Research story, Misunderstood Mischief, will unlock. If you complete this Season’s Special Research story, you’ll gain access to a special event at the end of the Season that might have something to do with Hoopa!

Strange Pokémon are appearing in Pokémon GO, including Pokémon originally discovered in the Galar region like Galarian Slowking! Could this be a result of Hoopa’s rings? Let’s tackle this mystery together and learn more about Hoopa!

Galarian Slowpoke will now be able to evolve into Galarian Slowking! To evolve it, set a Galarian Slowpoke as your buddy, and catch 30 Psychic-type Pokémon. You’ll also be able to evolve Galarian Slowpoke into Galarian Slowking after the event ends.

This is another Pokémon with special evolution method in Pokémon GO, following on the recent How to evolve Inkay into Malamar in Pokémon GO

Wild Encounters

The following Pokémon will be appearing more frequently in the wild. Also, for the first time in Pokémon GO, you’ll be able to encounter a Shiny Spinarak, if you’re lucky!

Halloween Mischief Pikachu and Halloween Mischief Piplup are appearing as costumed variants. Yamask is the rare spawn here.

Pokémon GO Halloween Mischief Part 2: Ghoulish Pals

The second part of Pokémon GO Halloween Mischief is called Ghoulish Pals! Ghost types will be appearing more often everywhere as we get closer and closer to Halloween. The spectacularly spectral Pumpkaboo and Phantump will make their Pokémon GO debuts, alongside their Evolutions, Gourgeist and Trevenant!

Ends: Sunday, October 31, 2021, at 8:00 p.m. local time

We’re also getting word that you’ll be able to encounter Pumpkaboo of varying sizes, just like you can in the Kalos region. Gourgeist evolved from Pumpkaboo will also vary in size! During this time, intrepid Trainers can complete a Collection Challenge that’ll encourage them to seek these Ghost-type Pokémon!

Season of Mischief Special Research Story Unlock

The next part of the Season of Mischief Special Research story, Misunderstood Mischief, will unlock. If you complete this Season’s Special Research story, you’ll gain access to a special event at the end of the Season that might have something to do with Hoopa!

Professor Willow has a frightening but eye-opening encounter with some Phantump and Trevenant in a forest! This reminds him that Hoopa is also a Ghost-type Pokémon, so perhaps this is the perfect opportunity to do more research on the spooky, spectral Pokémon around us.

Phantump, Trevenant, Pumpkaboo, and Gourgeist make their debuts in Pokémon GO!

New Size Mechanic

With the introduction of Pumpkaboo comes a new mechanic to Pokémon GO: Pumpkaboo that are larger will actually look larger in the game!

Collection Challenge

In celebration of Pumpkaboo’s debut and the mechanic it introduces, a Collection Challenge will be available that requires you to collect Pumpkaboo of various sizes.
