Primal Kyogre Raid Guide

Kyogre (Primal)

Primal Kyogre is a Water type Primal Raid boss. Best Primal Kyogre raid counters include powerful Electric and Grass types. This guide will tell you how to beat this Primal whale, as well as its optimal stats, moves and CP range.

Depending on your levels and counters, we would recommend 6+ Trainers who are high level, and more if you don’t have optimal teams.

You need to be as prepared as possible when defeating a Primal Raid Boss, not only are they difficult to beat, but the quicker you beat it, the more Primal Energy you will get. Primal Raids are the hardest raids we have ever had in Pokémon GO.

Primal Kyogre Counters

While Shadow Pokémon are extremely expensive to power up, we have included the top Shadow Pokémon you can use against Primal Kyogre. Ensure you no longer have Frustration on these Pokémon before considering adding them to your team. If you have any of these as an option, while they may take more damage than non-shadow Pokémon, they will also deal more.

Let’s check out the top raid counters for Primal Kyogre:

How to Get Primal Kyogre

You cannot catch Kyogre in its primal evolved form from the raid. The primal raid boss is always catchable in its base form and as such, the CP ranges are for a regular Kyogre.

Kyogre can be caught with the following CP values:

  • 2260 – 2351 CP no weather boost
  • 2825 – 2939 CP boosted by Rainy weather boost

In order to get Primal Kyogre you will need 400 Primal Energy for the initial evolution, then 80 Primal Energy to evolve the same Kyogre again in the future. If you wait for their ‘cooldown’ period to end, Primal Evolution is free. This cooldown period is shorter the higher primal level your Primal Pokémon is. Primal Energy can be obtained via Primal Kyogre Raids, and once you have evolved Primal Kyogre, you can earn 100 Primal Energy per candy while walking it as your buddy. You can walk any Kyogre to earn Primal Energy, as long as you have previously evolved one to register it to your Primal Pokédex.

Shiny Kyogre

Like all Mega/Primal Raid Bosses, you can catch the shiny version of Kyogre from a raid.

Conclusion

Primal Kyogre is an absolute beauty. With massive stats, and a huge max CP, this is one Pokémon you don’t want to miss out on. Check out our full PvE analysis here. Whilst not quite as invaluable as their counterpart Primal Groudon, they are still going to be a great addition to your Water type raid teams.
