Pokémon Spotlight Hour will feature a different Pokémon and a special bonus for one hour at 6:00 p.m. local time on Tuesday during the month of November. Smoliv Spotlight Hour takes place on November 12th, 2024, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm local time, with a bonus of 2x XP for evolving Pokémon.
SmolivThis Spotlight Hour is the second November 2024 Pokémon spotlight. It’s especially exciting as shiny Smoliv debuts during the Harvest Festival event on the 7th November! It is also a great time to evolve any trash ‘mon in your storage before you transfer them.
Trainers who plan to participate should be prepared with a Mega Pokémon to maximise candy gains per Smoliv caught. Here’s everything you need to know!
- If you want further information about Spotlight Hours, check out our comprehensive guide.
Bonuses
- You will get 2x XP for Evolving Pokémon
- Shiny Smoliv and its evolutions are available in Pokémon GO
Note on XP Bonus
If you do not want to catch the featured Pokémon or do not have enough Smoliv candy saved, you can make use of the 2x Evolution XP bonus by evolving any saved Scatterbug, or opening a Mystery Box or Coin Bag and evolving those!
This is a great opportunity to evolve any Pokémon caught during the Harvest Festival event. The old-school grinders will remember the days of saving Pidgey and other low-cost evolutions for this sort of spotlight hour, and it can be a good way to grind XP with a lucky egg on.
Only a few of the wild spawns featured during the event have cheap evolutions at 25 candy. Keep any Smoliv, Oddish and Hoppip you come across to evolve during this spotlight hour!
Smoliv
Smoliv is a Grass and Normal-type Pokémon in Pokémon GO. As a Grass and Normal-type Pokémon, Smoliv is weak to Bug, Fighting, Fire, Flying, Ice, and Poison-type moves.
Smoliv’s maximum Combat Power stat is 965 CP, and its best Pokémon GO moves are Tackle and Seed Bomb. Smoliv encounters are boosted during Sunny and Partly Cloudy weather. Shiny Smoliv is available.

Shiny Smoliv
Shiny Smoliv debuts just 5 days before this spotlight hour! Look out for the olive on the top of its head turning dark.
The following Pokémon will grant you extra bonuses when catching Smoliv if they are Mega/Primal evolved. While a Pokémon is Mega-Evolved, additional XP and Candy is granted when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it, or for any raid boss caught. These do not stack with each other. Additionally, High and Max Level Mega-Evolved Pokémon grant an increased chance to obtain Candy XL when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it. Arboliva’s best moveset for PvP is Magical Leaf, Earth Power, and Trailblaze. Unfortunately, it is not a useful PvP Pokémon. 🔵 Great League – Arboliva actually ranks worse than Dolliv for Great League. 🟡 Ultra League – Arboliva does not rank well for Ultra League, and if you want to use a Grass type, there are many superior options. 🟣 Master League – Arboliva requires level 50 XL Candy investment, and still doesn’t break the top 200 for Master League. ⚔️ Raids – Arboliva isn’t a particularly good Grass-type raid attacker, but if you don’t have many options, it can work. 🛡️ Gyms – There are better defensive options available.
