0.209.0 APK Teardown: New moves, Quest Branching, Inventory upgrades and more

Posted in

Hello Trainers! 0.209.0 is currently rolling out to a device near you!  To remind everyone,  Niantic has brought back obfuscation with a vengeance, a lot was hidden again but there’s some interesting stuff that was discovered.

You can read the original PokéMiners’ breakdown here. Go give them an upvote! You know the drill by now, everything in this article is datamined, and therefore subject to be changed or not even being released at all.

Official patch notes can be found here.

New Move… Visual Effects?

fx/attacks/fairy_wind_fast
fx/attacks/fiery_dance

The visual effects for the fast move Fairy Wind, and the charge move Fiery Dance have been added.  What’s interesting is Fiery Dance is the exclusive signature move of Volcarona.  Fiery Dance has a 50% chance of raising the user’s Attack in the main series games, while Fairy Wind has no secondary effects.

NOTE:  These moves are not in the game yet, only the visual effects have been added.  So we’re at least another game update and a Game Master update away from seeing them, and a Volcarona release for Fiery Dance.

Added TEXT: All Trainers participating in a global challenge will contribute to a global goal. Once Trainers achieve the goal, a timed bonus will activate for all participants.

They removed the “remain active until the next global challenge starts.” part from the end.
