Datamining Update: New Little Jungle Cup, and more on Powered Up Pokéstops & Gyms

Posted in

Hello Trainers!  Some updates have been pushed, including hints at a little Jungle Cup, and a lot of details of powered up Pokéstops & Gyms

You know the drill by now, everything in this article is datamined, and therefore subject to be changed or not even being released at all. So bear that in mind while we go through the pushed updates.  Also, there are spoilers below, so if you don’t like spoilers I suggest you skip past the first section.

You can read the Pokéminers Reddit post here, go give them an upvote!  Let’s get into it!

Little Jungle Cup

The Jungle Cup was previously a Silph League cup that allowed Electric, Bug, Grass, and Normal, with Tropius, the Burmy family and Mothim banned..  So we’ll see how close to that the GBL Little Jungle Cup is.

Tutorial

There’s a lot to the tutorial, the important bits are coming up so I won’t list the rest here.  Needless to say, there’s a tutorial.

Power Up Pokéstops

TEXT: Thank you for your contributions! You and nearby trainers can get a bonus from this PokeStop.

RESOURCE ID: poi_power_p_level_body
TEXT: Thank you for your contribution! You and other Trainers can get bonuses at this PokéStop.

It appears that the bonuses from Powered up Pokéstops will be available to all trainers.

Power up Gyms

RESOURCE ID: poi_power_g_level_body

It looks like Gyms will be able to be Powered up as well!

Location Points!

RESOURCE ID: poi_power_upload_point
TEXT: Total of {0} location point(s) added to a PokéStop or Gym

RESOURCE ID: upmgmt_summary_about
TEXT: About Location Points

It appears that powering up Stops and Gyms will require location points, and the POI will tell you how many points have been added?

The Bonuses

RESOURCE ID: poi_power_tutorial_8
TEXT: At a PokéStop, wild Pokémon will appear more frequently. At a Gym, you’ll have bonus Premier Balls in the Pokémon encounter after you win a Raid Battle.

RESOURCE ID: poi_powered_up_duration
TEXT: Power-up active until {0:ddd hh:mm tt}

It looks like a Powered up Pokéstop will attract more Pokémon.  Not sure how close to a lure this will be, but it’s a nice way to get more Pokémon without dropping coins.

Gyms will reward you with more Premier balls, which will be really handy for catching legendary Pokémon.

As expected the power doesn’t last forever.  No indication on how long it will last at the moment.

Level up locations – AR Scan / Photo

RESOURCE ID: poi_power_tutorial_1
TEXT: If you scan this location or add a photo, the location will gain location points. When the location is powered up, it will provide bonuses depending on its level.

It appears that AR scanning a POI or adding a Photo will give the POI a location point.

Level up locations – Lucky Spin

RESOURCE ID: pups_tutorial_p2_title
TEXT: Lucky Photo Disc Spin

RESOURCE ID: pups_tutorial_p2_body
TEXT: While spinning a Photo Disc at a PokéStop or Gym, stop the Photo Disc where it started to add a location point!

It looks like they’re adding some skill to adding location points.  Stop the photodisc where it started to add a point.  Start practicing now!
