Eternatus Is Coming Back! Pokémon GO Drops Mysterious Eternamax Teaser

IT’S HAPPENING! After more than a year of waiting, the mighty Eternatus looks ready to make its long-awaited return to Pokémon GO! And if the latest teaser is anything to go by, we could be in for another massive challenge.

Last seen during Pokémon GO Fest 2025: Max Finale in August 2025, Eternamax Eternatus was responsible for some of the most demanding Max Battles the game had ever seen. Now, the official Pokémon GO X account has released a mysterious 15-second teaser, showing the monstrous Eternamax Eternatus looming ominously in the sky.

Eternamax Eternatus Looks Ready for Round Two

The teaser shows the enormous Eternamax Eternatus towering above a Power Spot, strongly hinting at its return to Max Battles.

The Legendary Poison- and Dragon-type Pokémon was one of the toughest opponents trainers faced during GO Fest 2025, requiring enormous groups of players to bring it down. Its potential return could give trainers another chance to take on this formidable challenge.

Interestingly, an earlier datamine referenced an event called GO Wild Area: Lead Out, associated with Eternatus. This has fueled speculation that its return could be connected to November’s GO Wild Area celebrations.

However, an official event date, battle schedule, and full details have yet to be announced.

Another Chance to Power Up Eternatus

For trainers who already own Eternatus, its return could be particularly exciting. Powering up this Legendary Pokémon is an enormous undertaking, with Candy requirements unlike anything else in the game.

To fully invest in Eternatus, trainers need:

  • 8,900 Eternatus Candy and 8,900 Eternatus Candy XL to power it up from Level 15 to Level 50.
  • An additional 8,000 Eternatus Candy and 960 Eternatus Candy XL to fully upgrade Dynamax Cannon, Max Guard, and Max Spirit to Level 3.

That’s a staggering 16,900 Eternatus Candy and 9,860 Eternatus Candy XL to fully power up Eternatus and its three Max Moves!

During GO Fest 2025: Max Finale, defeating Eternamax Eternatus rewarded trainers with large amounts of Eternatus Candy and Candy XL. Another opportunity to collect these resources would be welcome news for anyone still working toward a fully powered-up Eternatus.

Will Trainers Be Able to Catch Another Eternatus?

One of the biggest unanswered questions is whether trainers who already caught Eternatus in 2025 will be able to obtain a second one.

During its original debut, Eternatus was available as a one-time encounter through GO Pass: Max Finale. Defeating Eternamax Eternatus in Max Battles did not provide another catch encounter, instead rewarding players with Candy and Candy XL.

Whether these restrictions will apply to its upcoming return remains unknown.

Trainers who missed Eternatus’s original debut will undoubtedly be hoping for another opportunity to add this powerful Legendary Pokémon to their collection. Meanwhile, those who already have one may finally get the chance to collect the resources they need to power it up.

It’s also important to remember that Eternamax Eternatus cannot be caught in its Eternamax form. In 2025, players obtained the regular form of Eternatus through the GO Pass rather than through Eternamax Max Battles.

The Return of a Legendary Powerhouse

Eternatus isn’t just an intimidating Max Battle opponent. Thanks to its powerful stats and signature move, Dynamax Cannon, it’s also an exceptional attacker in Raids and a valuable addition to Max Battle teams.

But is it worth investing thousands of Candy and Candy XL into this Legendary Pokémon?

Check out our detailed analysis of how strong Eternatus is in Raids and Max Battles, or prepare for the potential rematch with our Eternamax Eternatus counters and battle guide.

For now, the teaser leaves us with more questions than answers. When will Eternatus return? Will players be able to catch another one? And just how generous will the Candy rewards be this time?

One thing is certain: Eternamax Eternatus is back in the spotlight, and trainers have plenty of reasons to be excited!
