Trainers, the GO Hub team wishes you a Happy New Year! May 2022 be better than 2021 in every way to you, your friends, your family and your Poke family. 2021 was a difficult year for many, let’s keep the bad in the past and let’s hope that the future brings better times for everyone.
Five years down the bucket
It’s quite uncanny to think, but we’ve been playing Pokémon GO for five long years already.
We think this year – unlike some of those before it – marked a strong shift in Pokémon GO’s direction and focus, moving away from Raids, and much more into PvP. And it makes sense, given that COVID is still circulating the globe, with a new variant popping up every month.
We’re quite curious to see how the next few Pokémon GO years will look and feel, as we hope to see a strong return to exploration and outdoor gameplay as soon as COVID-19 subsides.
Our Gyms have slept dormant for far too long, can’t wait to battle it out in person once again.
Please, stay safe
With that being said, I want to urge our readers to stay safe. Not just physically, but mentally as well. We’ve been living the COVID-lifestyle for years already, and it’s not likely that this will change any time soon – at least a year or two before we’re back to normal, according to some big thinkers.
Unfortunately, more people have died from COVID in 2021 than in 2020. This is not good, and this trend is likely to continue as safety measures become more and more relaxed and COVID continues to mutate.
We want to urge our readers to trust science (and medicine), get vaccinated and play along their national safety guidelines concerning COVID-19.

I’m tired of COVID, and I think you are as well.
All of us thought that last year was as difficult as it will get. I think we were wrong. 2021 was more difficult than 2020, but still… it’s going to be fine.
Last year I wrote a piece called “It’s going to be fine”, and I still stand by it.
Trust me – an internet stranger – it’s going to be fine. Let’s just get through this year as good as we got through last year, and it’s going to be fine.
