Necrozma just got teased for Pokémon GO Fest 2024: Everything you need to know

Posted in

Niantic just teased Necrozma as an upcoming release for GO Fest 2024! This timing is impeccable, with a total Solar eclipse taking place all over North America and Canada today.

Niantic is piggybacking hard on the the Great North American Solar Eclipse hype, and honestly, we’re all in as well! Here’s the tweet that Niantic used to tease Necrozma:

If you are a bit confused by the word “portends”, you are not alone. We looked it up and it means “to be a sign or warning that (something, especially something momentous or calamitous) is likely to happen”, and is often used with eclipses, as in “the eclipses portend some major events”.

Looks pretty ominous to us, but if Niantic releases Necrozma, Lunala and Solgaleo as GO Fest 2024 raid bosses, that event immediately becomes the best GO Fest event ever. Fingers crossed on our end!

Necrozma’s first tease was over a year ago

This is definitely not the first time that Necrozma was teased, as Niantic showed Necrozma at the very end of the first Ultra Beast research report trailer, on November 27, 2022:

How good is Necrozma in Pokémon GO

Necrozma

Necrozma is a Psychic-type Legendary Pokémon that was introduced in Generation VII, and it has three forms, depending if it manages to dominate Solgaleo or Lunala:

  • Dusk Mane Necrozma is the form it attains from absorbing Solgaleo,
  • Dawn Wings Necrozma is the form it attains from absorbing Lunala,
  • Ultra Necrozma is a third form Necrozma can attain if it uses an exclusive Z-Crystal

All three forms look amazing, and quite unusual, as if some kind of cybernetic armour attached itself to Lunala and Solgaleo:

As far as stats go, it is very hard to comment whether or not they are final, but here they are:

  • Attack: 251
  • Defense: 195
  • Stamina: 219
  • Max CP: 4163 CP

We don’t know which movesets it will get, nor will it have Prismatic Laser or Photon Geyser, both of which are Necrozma’s signature moves introduced in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

Necrozma fight in the main series games

Here is the Necrozma Boss battle from Pokémon Ultra Moon. Obvious spoilers ahead, but the fight is just amazing to watch. Ultra Moon and Ultra Sun are amazing games, and they really closed the 3DS chapter in style!
