Trainers! This must have been the most intense couple of days in the history of Pokémon Go! This week, we learned that

  • Zapdos Day would take place on July 21 (all the details here)
  • Niantic hinted at Gen 4 with the inclusion of the Gen 4 starters in an image released on Instagram and Twitter (all the details here)
  • the Game Master was updated to include Celebi’s catch rate and Scizor’s capture stardust reward (all the details here)

And with the other news which we are about to discuss, we can barely contain our excitement! We’ll try to be brief!

Eevee Community Days – August 11-12

As if teasing Gen 4 with the appearance of the three Gen 4 starters in an image wasn’t enough, Niantic announced yesterday that Eevee would be the star of the next Community Day on August 11-12. Considering that Eevee has two evolutions in Gen 4, one could bet that Niantic will be releasing Gen 4 very soon! Possibly on Professor Willow’s birthday on July 21st?

In case you were wondering, no, we did not make a typo when we wrote “Community Days“. In the announcement, Niantic clearly stated:

On Saturday, August 11, and Sunday, August 12, Eevee will appear in the wild more frequently for three hours each day.

Considering that Eevee will [soon] have eight evolutions, it only makes sense that Niantic decided to extend the length of Community Day for August.

Trainers will be able to enjoy a very well deserved 3X catch stardust bonus while Lures will last for three hours. The special move still is to be announced. Eevee and its Eeveelutions will all appear more frequently in the wild!

With all this, we did not even mention the fact that Shiny Eevee will be available! How awesome is this?! To know more about Eevee Community Days and see what Eevee and its eeveelutions look like, check out our full analysis and coverage right here.

Lugia Return for Pokémon Go Fest reported today that to coincide with Pokémon Go Fest, Lugia would once again take over Tier 5 Raid Bosses! This means that on July 14th and 15th, Regice will take a short vacation to let trainers fight over the chance to capture a Shiny Lugia! The report indicates that Lugia will take over “Level 5 Raid Boss”, so we can safely assume that other Tiers will also appear. However, Tier 1 to 4 Raid Rosses might be shaken up a bit as well if we consider that Scizor was applied a stardust reward in the Game Master file.

Here is what Shiny Lugia looks like compared to its normal sprite. Also make sure to check out our Lugia Raid Guide to be well prepared for this exciting weekend!
