Featured Pokemon

Flygon is a strong Great League attacker that creates a lot of pressure with Mud Shot and Dragon Claw. Unfortunately, the low availability of wild Trapinch has made it hard to obtain for some Trainers. Outside of PvP, Flygon has seen limited usage in PvE and Gym Battles. We’ll see how it’s meta role will change with a new move.

New shiny forms

Three new shiny Pokemon forms are being released: shiny Trapnich, Vibrava and Flygon. Shiny Trapinch’s has a distinctive teal color which should make it rather easy to distinguish between the two forms in the encounter screen. The rest of the family trades red for orange and blue details.

Possible Flygon Community Day Moves

Flygon can learn the following moves by leveling up in the main series games:

  • Dragon Breath Dragon
  • Dragon Claw Dragon (already knows)
  • Feint Attack Dark
  • Mud-Slap Ground
  • Mud Shot Ground (already knows)
  • Bulldoze Ground
  • Rock Slide Rock
  • Earth Power Ground
  • Dragon Tail Dragon (already knows)
  • Earthquake Ground (already knows)
  • Hyper Beam Normal
  • Stone Edge Rock (already knows)

Flygon doesn’t have any signature moves in the main series, which means that the CD exclusive move will probably be something from the list above. We don’t expect Outrage as Flygon can’t learn it at all, but moves like Dragon Breath and Bulldoze are not out of the question.

Earth Power would be an excellent choice as well, as it’s on par with Frenzy Plant, Meteor Mash and even Shadow Ball to some extent. By our calculations, a Flygon with Earth Power would be comparable to Groudon and Garchomp in terms of DPS:

Pokemon Moves DPS
Groudon Mud Shot / Earthquake 13.79
Garchomp Mud Shot / Earthquake 12.41
Flygon Mud Shot / Earth Power 12.35
Flygon Mud Shot / Earthquake 10.52

Of course, Flygon is not on par in terms of TDO, but it would still be more useful than it is today.
