The Pokémon Company and Aardman Announce an Epic New Claymation Project

In a surprising online announcement, The Pokémon Company International shared they have teamed up with none other than Aardman, the legendary studio behind claymation-style Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep!

The new collaboration has been announced today, with brand-new adventures in the Pokémon universe set to debut in 2027. In case you’re not familiar, Aardman is known for their unique, handcrafted storytelling and their iconic claymation style. Combine that with the Pokémon world we all know and love, and it’s hard not to get excited about the possibilities!

Taito Okiura, VP of Marketing and Media at The Pokémon Company International, commented,

“This is a dream partnership for Pokémon. Aardman are masters of their craft, and we have been blown away by their talent and creativity. What we have been working on together ensures our global Pokémon fans are in for a treat!”

Sean Clarke, Managing Director of Aardman, added,

“It’s a huge honour to be working with The Pokémon Company International — we feel sincerely privileged to be trusted with bringing their characters and world to life in a brand-new way. Bringing together Pokémon, the world’s biggest entertainment brand, together with our love of craft, character and comedic storytelling feels incredibly exciting. Aardman and TPCi share an emphasis on heritage and attention to detail as well as putting our fans and audiences at the heart of what we do, which we know will steer us right as we together create charming, original and new stories for audiences around the world”

What Could This Look Like?

  • Claymation Pokémon Episodes: Imagine Pikachu and Eevee rendered in Aardman’s classic claymation style! Bloody cute!
  • Unique Storylines: Aardman is known for their charming characters and emotional depth. Could we see a real origin story of a Trainer and their first Pokémon?
  • Craft Meets Fantasy: Aardman’s attention to detail combined with the Pokémon world might result in something visually stunning and totally original.

Community Buzz

Fans are already buzzing with excitement on social media. One Trainer posted on reddit the following:

As a Brit I’m very excited to see Aardman, one of the biggest names in British animation, work with Pokemon.

But also it’s funny seeing them credited with “Flushed Away” up there with Wallace & Gromit, and Chicken Run. The Dreamworks collaberation didn’t produce their best work.

Another fan wrote:

This is exactly my kind of thing. Absolutely fantastic news

We can expect even more speculation and hype as more information trickles out in the coming years.
