At the start of the season of Tales of Transformation new Weekly Challenges were teased, and we finally have more information about them, and a start date!
This brand new feature arrives in Pokémon GO starting on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. PDT. You’ll be able to join up to three fellow Trainers from anywhere in the world each week to complete a challenge, earn rewards, and increase your Friendship level with your group.
Your Trainer profile will feature a brand new Social tab, where you’ll be able to access the new Weekly Challenges feature, alongside Party Play.
From the Social Tab Trainers will be able to create a group, join a group, or review a group’s progress for the current weekly challenge.
Trainers can only be part of one weekly challenge group at a time, and Trainers can only complete one weekly challenge per week.
A new weekly challenge will be posted globally every Sunday at 5:00 p.m. PDT, and each weekly challenge will end the following Sunday at 5:00 p.m. PDT.

Creating a Group
From the Social Tab you’ll be able to invite up to three friends from anywhere in the world to form a group to take on the weekly challenge. Any Trainer in a group can invite friends to join, but each group is limited to four Trainers.

Joining a Group
You will be notified when you receive an invite to join a weekly challenge group, and you will have 24 hours to accept the invite before it expires.
Checking Your Progress
Once in a group, Trainers can go to the Social tab to review the group’s daily and overall progress, as well as the time remaining for that week’s challenge.

Making New Friends
Trainers will be able to become Friends with anyone in their group they’re not already friends with. If your weekly challenge is completed successfully, the extra Friendship level progress from completing the challenge will also be applied to this new Friend.
When your group completes a weekly challenge within the allotted time, you will earn the following rewards:
- Extra Friendship level progress
- 20,000 XP
- 6,000 Stardust
Even if your group fails to complete the weekly challenge, all members of the group will still receive Stardust for their efforts.

By the end of year, Pokémon GO also intend to offer matchmaking for weekly challenges. This will enable Trainers to form groups with other Trainers in the community that they may not be friends with yet.
